Okay, so, picture this: I decided to make flower crowns for my sister’s wedding. She wanted all her bridesmaids to have these beautiful, natural-looking crowns, and I thought, “Hey, I can do that!” So, I gathered all my materials.
- Flowers: I picked a mix of roses, baby’s breath, and some greenery. I wanted a rustic, romantic vibe, you know?
- Floral wire: This was for the base of the crown. I got the green, bendy kind that’s pretty easy to work with.
- Floral tape: Also green, to wrap around the wire and make it look all nice and seamless.
- Scissors and wire cutters: Obviously, gotta cut things!
First, I measured my head with the wire to get a rough idea of the size. I made a circle and twisted the ends together. This was my crown base. Then, I started attaching the flowers. I cut the stems pretty short, like 2-3 inches, and used the floral tape to stick them to the wire.
I started with the bigger flowers, the roses, and spaced them out evenly around the crown. Then, I filled in the gaps with the smaller flowers, like the baby’s breath, and the greenery. I made sure to wrap the tape tightly so everything was secure.
It took a bit of time, and honestly, my fingers got a little sticky from the tape, but it was actually really fun! I put on some music, made some tea, and just got into the zone, adding flowers and shaping the crown until it looked just right.
The most challenging part was probably making sure the crown was balanced. I didn’t want it to be too heavy on one side or have all the big flowers clumped together. I kept trying it on my head to check the balance and adjust the flowers as needed.
Finally, after a couple of hours, it was done! I was so proud of how it turned out. It was this beautiful, delicate, and totally unique flower crown. I made a few more for the rest of the bridesmaids, each one a little different, but all with the same vibe.
On the wedding day, the bridesmaids looked absolutely stunning with their flower crowns. My sister loved them, and everyone was asking where we got them. It felt so good to say, “I made them!” It was a really special touch to the wedding, and I was so happy I could contribute in that way. I may just try and make some money out of this going forward!
