Okay, so I had to find a dress for my friend’s rehearsal dinner. She’s the bride, and I’m one of the bridesmaids. We already picked out our bridesmaid dresses for the wedding, but I needed something different for the rehearsal dinner. I wanted to look nice but not outshine the bride, you know?
First, I thought about the venue. It was a pretty classy restaurant, not super formal but definitely not a jeans-and-t-shirt kind of place. So, I figured a cocktail dress would be a good choice. Something elegant but not over the top.
I started browsing online, just to get some ideas. I saw a lot of cute dresses, but some were too fancy, and others were too casual. Then, I remembered someone mentioning that little white dresses are popular for bridal events. I thought that could work. White is classic, and it wouldn’t compete with the bride’s actual wedding dress.
I found a few white dresses that I liked and ordered them. When they arrived, I tried them on. One was a simple sheath dress, which was nice but a bit plain. Another was a flowy maxi dress, which was pretty but maybe a little too much for the venue. Finally, I tried on a lace cocktail dress, and it was perfect! It was just the right length, and the lace detail made it feel special but not too formal.
Since the dinner was in the summer, I chose a sleeveless style, and the material was light and perfect for warm weather. I also played around with adding a light shrug to change up the look in case it got chilly later in the evening.
- Tried on a sheath dress: Too plain.
- Tried on a maxi dress: Too much for the venue.
- Tried on a lace cocktail dress: Perfect!
I felt great in the dress, and it got the bride’s approval, which was the most important part! It was a fun night, and I’m glad I found the perfect dress for the occasion. Ended up being a great choice, and I felt comfortable and stylish all night.
