Well, let me tell you, these days, folks are gettin’ all fancy with their weddings. Back in my day, we just had a good ol’ potluck and called it a day. But now, they got these things called wedding favors. And one of the things I hear them young’uns talkin’ about is wedding favors shot glasses.
I reckon it’s a little glass you take a quick swig of somethin’ strong out of. I seen ’em online, and they got all sorts of writin’ and pictures on ’em. Some got the bride and groom’s names, some got the date of the shindig. I guess it’s a way to remember the day. But honestly, I’d rather just remember the good time I had, not what glass I drank from.
They say you can get these shot glasses in bulk. That means you get a whole heap of ’em at once. I guess that’s good if you’re invitin’ every Tom, Dick, and Harry to your wedding. Lord knows, some folks do invite the whole town! I seen one place sellin’ a bunch of 1.5 Oz shot glasses. And they got different sizes too, like 1.75 Oz and 2 Oz. They got all kinds of them! They is for the wedding.
And these wedding shot glasses ain’t cheap, neither. I saw some goin’ for over two hundred dollars! For a bunch of little glasses! That’s more than I spend on groceries in a month! But I guess if you got money to burn, why not? If you gonna give out wedding favors, might as well be somethin’ folks can use, right? Even if it is just a little glass for a quick drink. I guess it’s better than those little bags of candy that just get stuck in your teeth. No one wants that.
I heard some folks say these glasses is custom. That means you can put whatever you want on ’em. Some put funny things, some put pretty things. I even seen some with little pictures. I suppose it’s like gettin’ a t-shirt made with your name on it, only it’s a little glass instead. The quality is real good, they say. And they pack ’em up real nice so they don’t break on the way to your house. That’s a good thing, ’cause ain’t nothin’ worse than gettin’ a box full of broken glass.

You know, they say you can even put a little candle in these shot glasses. Make ’em into a little candle holder. I guess that’s kinda cute. Two birds with one stone, as they say. Now, I ain’t one for these fancy wedding favors myself. Like I said, a good meal and some good company is all I need. But I can see why folks like ’em. It’s a little somethin’ to take home, a little reminder of the happy day. And if you’re gonna spend money on wedding favors, you might as well get somethin’ people will actually use, right? Even if they use it for a candle. Or somethin’ else.
But let me tell you, back in my day, we didn’t have none of this. No shot glasses, no fancy favors. We just had a good time. And that’s all that really matters, ain’t it? Bein’ with the people you love, celebratin’ a happy occasion. That’s what a wedding is all about. Not the little glasses you drink from. Still, these wedding favors shot glasses are popular. I hear people talkin’ about them. They must be important.
I guess it’s up to each couple to decide what they wanna do. If they wanna spend their money on wedding shot glasses, that’s their business. It ain’t hurtin’ nobody. And who knows, maybe I’ll even get one at the next weddin’ I go to. Might even use it for a little sip of somethin’ strong. Or maybe I’ll just put a little candle in it and set it on my windowsill. Either way, I reckon it’ll be a nice little reminder of the day. But it is not a must thing. If you want to save your money, you can do it. No one will say a thing.
Nowadays there are so many choices for the wedding. They say 2 or 3 dollars for each one. And many will be left behind. So do not spend too much money on them. Try to make them special. Then your guests will take it home.
