Okay, so, I recently had to get one of those little flower things for a friend’s wedding – a boutonniere, I think it’s called? I was the groom, and let me tell you, figuring this out was a whole thing. I mean, I had gone to some wedding before, but I never had to actually deal with the details myself.
First, I asked the bride and groom if they had any specific ideas. They did not, they were busy with a million other things, planning-wise. So, I dove into the internet to figure out what a groom’s boutonniere is even supposed to look like. Turns out, it’s just a small bunch of flowers that matches the bride’s bouquet, pinned to your jacket’s lapel. Simple enough, right?
Wrong. There are, like, a million different types of flowers, and a whole bunch of ways to put them together. I spent a good chunk of time looking at pictures, trying to find something that looked nice and wouldn’t be too hard to, you know, not mess up.
I decided I am not the kind of person making my own boutonniere. Some people are into that, and more power to them, but that’s just not me. I headed to a local flower shop and talked to the florist there. She was super helpful and walked me through the different options.
- She showed me some classic choices like a single rose or a small bunch of lilies.
- We also looked at some more unique options with succulents and other greenery.
After a bit of back and forth, we settled on a simple design with a white rose and a few sprigs of greenery. It looked classy and matched the overall vibe of the wedding. The florist put it all together for me and even showed me how to pin it to my jacket properly.
On the day of the wedding, I carefully pinned the boutonniere to my lapel, just like the florist had shown me. And you know what? It actually looked pretty good! It was a small detail, but it made me feel more put together and, I don’t know, more like a groom, I guess.
Mission Accomplished
So, yeah, that’s the story of how I conquered the world of wedding boutonnieres. It was a bit of a learning curve, but in the end, it all worked out. And hey, at least now I know what I’m doing if I ever have to do it again.
