Alright, guys, so the other day I decided to make a groom’s cake. You know, something a bit different from the usual wedding cake stuff. And I thought, why not add some strawberries? Sounds good, right?
First off, I had to figure out what kind of cake this was gonna be. I mean, usually, the bride’s cake is all light and fluffy, but the groom’s cake? That’s supposed to be rich and dark. Chocolate is a classic, but it can really be whatever the groom likes. I’ve even seen some wild ones shaped like cars or whatever.
Then, I had to think about how many people I was going to feed. This cake had to be enough for everyone, usually around 50 to 75 servings, or even more, depending on how big the slices are, right?
Next up, I started brainstorming about the style. I mean, a cake’s gotta match the whole vibe of the wedding. Is it fancy? Is it chill? My wedding was kinda rustic, so I wanted something that fit that whole scene.
Let’s get down to the actual baking, shall we?
I followed this recipe I found online, and I gotta say, it wasn’t too shabby. I mixed the cake batter and spread half of it into a 9×13 inch pan. After baking and cooling, I repeated the process and made another one.
- Mixing: Make sure the batter is nice and smooth. No lumps!
- Baking: Keep an eye on the oven. You don’t want to overbake it.
- Cooling: Let it cool completely. Patience, young Padawan.
Layering
After both cakes were completely cooled down, I took one layer and put it on my cake stand. And guess what? Here’s where I got to play around with the frosting and, of course, the strawberries.
I spread a good amount of frosting on the top of it, then I put the second layer on top of it. Then I spread the rest of the frosting on the top and sides. And you bet I added those strawberries. Sliced ’em up real nice and placed them all over the top. It looked pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.
So there you have it. That’s how I made a groom’s cake with strawberries. It was a fun little project, and everyone seemed to love it. Plus, it’s always cool to try something new, right?
