Well, howdy folks! Gather ’round, gather ’round, let me tell ya a thing or two about this here wedding thing, especially from a mother’s point of view. You see, my boy, he’s gettin’ hitched! And ain’t that somethin’? It just feels like yesterday he was a little tyke, runnin’ around with his pants fallin’ down, and now look at him, all grown up and smitten with a purdy gal.
So, what’s a body supposed to say when her boy’s gettin’ married? I tell ya, it ain’t easy. You got all these folks lookin’ at ya, expectin’ some fancy words, but I ain’t no fancy talker. I just speak from the heart, ya know?
- First off, you gotta say thank you to all them folks who came. They took time outta their day, drove miles maybe, just to be here. That means somethin’. So, “Thank ya’ll kindly for comin’,” that’s a good start.
- Then, you gotta talk about your boy. Now, this ain’t the time to be bringin’ up all his dirty laundry, mind you. This is about the good stuff. Tell ’em how proud you are, how he’s always been a good boy, even when he was bein’ a little stinker. You know, somethin’ like, “My boy, he’s always had a good heart, even when he was climbin’ trees he wasn’t supposed to.” That kinda thing.
And let me tell ya, seein’ him up there with his gal, it warms my old heart. She’s a good one, this gal. She’s got a smile that could light up a whole county, and she treats my boy right. That’s all a mother can ask for, really.
Now, some folks like to give advice at these weddin’s. Me? I ain’t no expert on marriage. I been married myself, for a good long while now, and let me tell ya, it ain’t always sunshine and roses. There’s gonna be rough patches, ya know? Times when you wanna wring each other’s necks. But you gotta remember why you fell in love in the first place. You gotta stick together, through thick and thin.
So, I guess if I had to give ’em any advice, it’d be this: “Love each other fiercely, forgive each other quickly, and never go to bed angry.” That’s about all there is to it, I reckon. And maybe, “Always put the toilet seat down,” that’s a good one too, ha!
But mostly, you just gotta tell ’em how happy you are for ’em. How seein’ them together makes your heart swell up like a prize-winning pumpkin. You gotta let ’em know you’re gonna be there for ’em, no matter what. ‘Cause that’s what families do, right? We stick together.
And speakin’ of family, I’m right proud to be welcomin’ this new gal into ours. She ain’t just my son’s wife, she’s my daughter now too. And I’m gonna love her just the same as I love him. That’s a promise.
So, let’s raise a glass, folks! To my boy and his purdy bride. May their life together be long and happy, filled with love and laughter and maybe a few little grandbabies for me to spoil rotten. And to all ya’ll, thank you again for comin’ and sharin’ this special day with us. It means the world to me, it truly does. Now let’s get this party started!
This whole weddin’ thing, it’s a big deal, ya know? It’s not just about the fancy dress and the big cake. It’s about two people promisin’ to love each other forever. And that’s somethin’ special, somethin’ worth celebratin’. And as a mama, watchin’ your boy find that kind of love, well, it’s just about the best feelin’ in the world.
So yeah, I’m just a plain ol’ woman, not used to all this fuss. But I’m a mama, and I love my boy. And I’m happy. That’s all there is to it.
