Well, hey there, y’all! Let’s gab a bit about them bride and groom dancin’ songs, ya know? The kinda tunes that get them lovebirds swayin’ and the whole shebang goin’. I ain’t no fancy DJ or nothin’, but I’ve seen a weddin’ or two in my time, and I know what gets folks movin’ and shakin’.
First off, you gotta think about what them young’uns like. Is they the slow and sappy type, or do they wanna get down and boogie? That’s the first thing to figure out. If they’re all about the romance, somethin’ like that “Thinking Out Loud” song by that Ed Sheeran fella is real nice. Real sweet and slow, ya know? It’s got them words that make ya wanna snuggle up close. I heard it at my niece’s weddin’ last summer, and it was just lovely. Made me wanna grab my old man and do a little swayin’ myself, even though he’s got two left feet, bless his heart.
But, shoot, if them lovebirds are the jumpin’ and jivin’ kind, then you need somethin’ with a bit more pep in its step. Somethin’ that’ll get everyone on the dance floor, not just the bride and groom. I’ve seen folks use them songs like “Shut up and Dance”, oh that one is real fun and gets people movin, and that one called “Mr. Brightside”…that one gets the young people hollerin’ and jumpin’ around like crazy fools! There’s another one I heard once, somethin’ about small things, can’t remember the name rightly, but it was catchy.
Now, if you wanna go real old school, can’t go wrong with that Elvis fella. “Can’t Help Falling In Love” is a classic for a reason. It’s a beautiful tune that everybody knows. It’s slow and romantic, but not too sleepy, you know? Just right for a first dance, I reckon. My grandma used to play that record all the time, and it still gets to me. It’s the kinda song that just makes you feel good all over.
- For the slow and sweet dances:
- Ed Sheeran – “Thinking Out Loud”
- Elvis Presley – “Can’t Help Falling In Love”
- For the get-up-and-boogie dances:
- “Shut up and Dance”
- “Mr. Brightside”
- “All the Small Things”
- “YMCA”
And then there’s them party starter songs, the ones you play after the first dance to get the whole shebang goin’. That’s when you gotta pull out the big guns. Somethin’ like that Natalie King Cole song, “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)”. That one always gets folks smilin’ and singin’ along. Or, if them young’uns are into that hip-hop stuff, somethin’ with a good beat. I don’t know much about that newfangled music, but I hear there’s a song called “All I Do Is Win” that’s real popular. Seems a bit boastful to me, but hey, if it gets folks dancin’, who am I to judge?
But the most important thing, more than any particular song, is that it’s somethin’ the bride and groom love. It’s their special day, after all, and they should get to dance to whatever makes ’em happy. Don’t matter if it’s a country song, a pop song, or somethin’ nobody’s ever heard before. If it makes them smile, that’s all that matters. I remember my own weddin’, we danced to some old tune my husband loved, somethin’ about a moon and stars. Can’t recall the name now, but I remember how happy we were, and that’s what counts.
So, there you have it, just a few thoughts on them bride and groom dancin’ songs from an old gal who’s seen a thing or two. Just remember to pick somethin’ that fits the couple, somethin’ that makes them wanna hold each other close and sway, or somethin’ that makes ’em wanna jump and jive till the cows come home. And most importantly, something that creates a good memory, ya know? Weddings are for makin’ memories, after all.
Remember, it ain’t just about the song, it’s about the feeling. So pick a song that feels right, that makes the bride and groom happy, and the rest will fall into place. And don’t forget to have fun! That’s what weddin’s are all about.
And for goodness sake, make sure the dance floor is big enough! Nothin’ worse than tryin’ to do the Electric Slide in a space the size of a postage stamp. Trust me on that one, I’ve seen it happen, and it ain’t pretty. So get yourselves a good-sized dance floor, a good DJ or band, some good food, some good company, and you got yourself a party!
Alright, I’ve rambled on long enough. Y’all go on and have a good time, and don’t forget to dance like nobody’s watchin’!
