Okay, so, wedding planning, right? It’s a huge thing, and one of the big to-dos was figuring out what my bridesmaids were gonna wear. I wanted something that looked good on everyone, felt comfy, and, you know, didn’t totally clash with the whole daffodil theme I had going on.
First off, I got my girls together. We had a little get-together, some snacks, some drinks, and we just started brainstorming. I mean, they’re the ones who gotta wear these dresses, so their opinions were super important. We looked at tons of pictures online, flipped through some bridal magazines, just trying to get a feel for what everyone liked.
Material consideration
- Chiffon: We thought this was nice since the wedding was during the day and it’s super lightweight.
- Mesh: My friend Sarah suggested this one. It’s stretchy and apparently breathes well, which is a plus.
- Crepe: I liked the texture of this one, and it seemed like it would work any time of year.
- Satin: This felt kinda fancy and smooth. I thought it would be perfect, especially since it was a spring wedding.
Color-wise, we went back and forth a bit. I initially thought maybe a light yellow, to kind of match the daffodils, but then one of my bridesmaids, bless her heart, pointed out that yellow can be a tough color to pull off. We ended up settling on this really pretty blush pink. It was soft, it was spring-y, and it went great with the yellow flowers without being too matchy-matchy. Plus, it looked good on everyone, which was a major win.
Style-wise, there are like a million options for bridesmaid dresses. We looked at long gowns, short ones, ones with straps, strapless ones… it was a lot. My maid of honor, Jenny—she’s not married, by the way, so she got the “maid of honor” title—she had this idea of doing knee-length dresses with straps, or some chiffon fabric. I thought that sounded pretty, and most of the girls were into it too, and they have the same idea of choosing chiffon fabric, so we went with that. The knee-length felt a little more casual and fun, which was the vibe I was going for, and the straps just added a little something extra. We added a few personal touches, like different necklines for each girl, just to make it a little more unique.
Finding the actual dresses was another adventure. We hit up a few bridal shops, tried on a bunch of different styles, and finally found “the ones” at this cute little boutique downtown. I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to get a group of women to agree on one dress, but let me tell you, it’s an experience. But we did it! We got everyone measured, ordered the dresses, and hoped for the best. The dresses are customized by a local tailor, and we can get them in 6 weeks.
When the dresses came in, we had another little get-together for everyone to try them on. Thankfully, they all fit pretty well, just a few minor alterations needed here and there. Seeing them all together, in their matching dresses, it finally felt real, you know? Like, “Wow, I’m actually getting married.”
On the day of the wedding, they looked amazing. The dresses were perfect, the color was beautiful, and everyone seemed really comfortable and happy. They got tons of compliments, and honestly, they totally rocked those dresses. It all came together better than I could’ve imagined. It was a long process, with a lot of decisions, but seeing my bridesmaids looking so beautiful and feeling good about themselves made it all totally worth it.
