Okay, so, I got invited to my buddy’s summer wedding, and he asked me to be one of his groomsmen. Awesome, right? But then came the tricky part – figuring out what to wear. I mean, it’s a summer wedding, so you gotta stay cool but still look sharp for the photos and all that.
First thing I did was hit up the groom to get the lowdown on the dress code. Was it gonna be formal, semi-formal, or more of a casual vibe? Turns out, they were going for a “dressy casual” kinda thing. Good, that gave me some wiggle room.
Next, I started checking out some online stores and men’s fashion blogs, just to get some ideas. I noticed a lot of linen and light cotton suits, which makes sense, ’cause who wants to be sweating buckets in a heavy wool suit in the middle of July?

Light-colored suits seemed to be the way to go. Think light gray, beige, or even a light blue. Dark colors just soak up the sun, and you end up feeling like you’re in a sauna.
-
Some guys were rocking the suit-with-no-tie look, which I gotta admit, looked pretty cool and relaxed.

Then there was the whole “matching with the other groomsmen” thing. I didn’t want to be the odd one out, so I shot a text to the other guys to see what they were thinking.
We decided to go with light gray linen suits. They look nice, they’re breathable, and they fit the summer wedding vibe perfectly. And for shirts, we went with crisp white ones – can’t go wrong with a classic, right?
Shoes were a bit of a debate. Some of the guys wanted to go with brown leather loafers, which is a solid choice. I ended up going with a pair of tan suede derbies. They’re a little more casual but still look put-together.
Accessorize? You bet! I picked up a simple brown leather belt that matched my shoes and a nice, understated watch. Didn’t want anything too flashy, you know? And for a pop of color, I found a nice pocket square that matched the wedding colors.
The Big Day
On the day of the wedding, we all got ready together at the groom’s place. It was a blast, helping each other with our ties and pocket squares, cracking jokes, and just getting hyped for the ceremony.
When we showed up at the venue, I gotta say, we looked pretty darn good. The light gray suits were perfect for the sunny weather, and we all felt comfortable and confident. We got tons of compliments, and most importantly, the bride and groom loved our look.
So, yeah, that’s my story of how I navigated the whole summer wedding groomsmen suit situation. It was a bit of a process, but we pulled it off, and everyone looked great. Mission accomplished!
