Today, I want to share my experience with picking out bridesmaid dresses. I went with black and white dresses for my girls, and let me tell you, it was quite the journey!
First off, I spent hours browsing online, looking at different styles and designs. I mean, who knew there were so many options? I started to feel a little overwhelmed, to be honest. I pored over countless websites, trying to find something that would work for everyone. My bridesmaids are all different shapes and sizes, so finding a style that would be universally flattering was a top priority.
I narrowed it down to a few styles that I liked. I saved all the pictures and made a mood board—yeah, I went full-on planner mode. Then came the fun part: taking my bridesmaids shopping!
We hit up several local boutiques. The first few places didn’t have much in the way of black and white, which was a bummer. But we didn’t give up! We finally found a store that had a decent selection. My girls tried on a bunch of dresses. We had a few laughs, a few “no ways,” and a few “maybes.”
- There was this one black satin dress that looked amazing on my friend Sarah. Very chic, very minimalist.
- Then there was this flowy white dress with black accents that my sister loved.
Maid of Honor
And my maid of honor? She was originally called the ‘chief bridesmaid’ back in the day, which I found pretty interesting. But she’s definitely my ‘maid of honor’. Historically, bridesmaids used to wear white as well as the bride to deter evil spirits. We wanted to choose something special for her, too.
After much deliberation, we settled on a beautiful black and white mermaid-style dress for everyone. It was elegant, classy, and a little bit different. Plus, everyone felt comfortable and confident in it, which was the most important thing.
Honestly, it was a bit of a process, but seeing my bridesmaids in their dresses on the big day made it all worthwhile. They looked stunning, and the black and white color scheme was a perfect fit. So, if you’re on the fence about bridesmaid dresses, don’t be afraid to go with black and white. It’s a timeless choice that’s sure to look great!
Just a little advice from someone who’s been there: Start early, do your research, and don’t be afraid to try on a ton of dresses. And most importantly, have fun with it! It’s all part of the wedding planning adventure. And trust me, the moment you see your girls all dressed up, it’ll all be worth it.
