Okay, so, my best friend asked me to be her bridesmaid, and I was like, “Hell yeah!” But then came the whole “What do I do with my hair?” situation. I’ve got straight hair, like, super straight, and I usually just let it hang loose because, honestly, I’m lazy when it comes to hairstyling.
First, I scrolled through tons of wedding blogs and saved a bunch of pictures. I found a whole lot of styles, from elegant updos to romantic curls and all that jazz. But most of those styles didn’t look like they were made for straight hair, and my hair never holds a curl for longer than a few hours, especially in humid weather. I even stumbled upon this trend of glitter in blonde hair, but my hair is dark, so that’s a no-go.
Then it hit me – why not just rock the straight hair? I mean, I always wear it straight anyway. So I started looking specifically for “straight hair bridesmaid” ideas. I found some cool stuff. Sleek ponytails, smooth straight styles, and even some textured bobs that looked pretty neat.
I decided to try out a few of these styles myself. Let me tell you, it was a journey.
- First, I tried the sleek ponytail. I washed my hair, blow-dried it straight, and used a flat iron to get it super smooth. Then, I pulled it back into a low ponytail. It looked okay, kind of chic, but a bit too simple for a wedding, maybe?
- Next, I attempted a half-up, half-down style. I straightened my hair again and then took the top half and tied it back with a small, clear elastic. I added a little twist to the tied-up section and pinned it in place. This one looked a bit more wedding-appropriate, but I wasn’t totally sold.
- Finally, I just went for a simple, straight look. I washed and conditioned my hair, used a heat protectant spray, and blow-dried it straight. Then, I ran the flat iron through it to make it extra sleek. To add a little something extra, I tucked one side behind my ear and added a sparkly hair clip.
After all that experimenting, I realized that the simple, straight look was the winner. It’s me, it’s comfortable, and with the right accessories, it looks pretty darn good. I showed my friend the pictures of the different styles I tried, and she loved the simple straight hair with the clip. She said it complemented her dress perfectly, and I was so glad we found something that worked for both of us. It turned out, I was overthinking it the whole time. I guess sometimes it is best to stick with what you know, right?
So, yeah, that’s my story of figuring out my bridesmaid hairstyle. It was a bit of a process, but in the end, I learned that sometimes the simplest option is the best one, especially when it comes to wedding stuff, and just being yourself is really what counts.
