Okay, so my daughter’s getting hitched! I was so stoked, but then came the big question: What in the world am I gonna wear? I wanted something that looked good, you know, but also didn’t make me look like I was trying too hard or, worse, trying to outshine the bride. No way, Jose! This was her day, not mine.
First things first, I started with finding some shops. I figured a good department store would be a safe bet. I needed to look for some choices and try them on. My friend Susan suggested Dillard’s, said they had a decent selection. I’m not a huge fan of online shopping for clothes, especially for something like this, so I made a mental note to check them out in person.
Then, I started thinking about colors. I remember reading somewhere that navy blue is, like, the color for mothers of the bride. Apparently, it’s classy and doesn’t scream for attention. After navy blue, I guess blush or other nude tones are also pretty popular. Makes sense, they are soft and not too flashy.

After color, I moved on to the style. I’m not exactly a spring chicken anymore, so I definitely wasn’t looking for anything too revealing. A tea-length dress sounded about right. Not too long, not too short. And definitely something with sleeves. I’m not a fan of showing off my arms these days, haha.
Of course, no outfit is complete without some bling! I’m not talking about anything over the top, just some simple, understated jewelry. The kind you can wear again and it brings back good memories. I want to remember this day every time I put it on, you know?
The Big Day Plan
Then there’s the whole day-of-the-wedding thing. My daughter told me it’s gonna be a pretty formal affair, so I figured I should probably wear a gown. For the daytime celebration, I was thinking a dressy suit or maybe a cocktail dress would do the trick. But for the reception, I was told a knee-length dress is more fitting.
So, yeah, that’s the plan for now. It’s all a bit overwhelming, but mostly exciting. Wish me luck!
