So, the other day, I was helping my best friend plan her wedding, and we got into this whole discussion about bridesmaids and bouquets. She’s not really into the traditional stuff and wanted something different, something, you know, that would really stand out.
We started brainstorming, throwing around all sorts of crazy ideas. At one point, we even joked about giving the bridesmaids brass knuckles instead of flowers! Can you imagine?
But then we got serious. I mean, do bridesmaids really need bouquets? We looked it up, and it turns out, not really. It’s totally up to the bride and what she wants. We read somewhere that people think bridesmaids need something to hold “so they have something to do with their hands,” but nobody says that about groomsmen. Weird, right?
Anyway, we started thinking about actual alternatives. We thought about giving them potted plants or succulents. They’d last longer than flowers, and they’d be a cool keepsake from the wedding. Or those bridal hoops that are covered in greenery, they are not bad.
- Considered potted plants or succulents as alternatives.
- Explored the idea of using bridal hoops.
- Found some people giving bridesmaids Mason jars or lanterns.
We looked at some pictures online, and there were some pretty cool ideas. Some people gave their bridesmaids mason jars or lanterns. And apparently, using fans is actually a traditional thing in some cultures.
My Decision
After going through all these ideas, my friend finally decided she’s going to give her bridesmaids beautiful, decorated fans. They fit the theme of her wedding, and they’re something the bridesmaids can actually use again. Plus, they’ll look amazing in the photos!
So, yeah, that’s how we ended up ditching the traditional bridesmaid bouquets. It was a fun little adventure, and it just goes to show that you don’t have to stick to tradition when it comes to weddings. Do whatever feels right for you!
