So, my son’s getting hitched! It’s a big deal, and I’ve been diving deep into the whole wedding prep thing. Today, I’m tackling a fun little project: “mother of the groom” tee shirts. Yeah, it might sound cheesy, but hey, it’s a cute way to celebrate and have a little fun, right?
First things first, I hit up the internet to get some ideas. I typed in “mother of the groom tee shirts” and started scrolling through the endless options. Some were way too flashy, covered in glitter and rhinestones. Others were just plain boring. I wanted something classy, maybe a little vintage-inspired, but not too over the top.
I stumbled upon a few designs on some online stores. I noticed one called UniqueWordDesigns, apparently popular, with over a thousand favorites. The shop seemed to be in the UK, based on the shipping info. Okay, good to know, but I’m not sure about international shipping times.
Then I found this website, The Knot. They have tons of dresses, including those for the mother of the bride and groom. They had some neat designs and a bunch of different colors. I made a mental note to check that out later when I’m ready to look for my actual dress. A few styles caught my eye, but I needed to focus on the tee shirts for now.
Brainstorming Ideas
I started thinking about what kind of message I wanted on the shirts. Just plain “Mother of the Groom” felt a bit too generic. Maybe something like “Team Groom” or a cute little phrase related to the wedding theme? I was also playing around with color ideas. I saw a suggestion online about using navy or maybe jewel tones. That could be interesting. I also saw some vintage-inspired dresses on a site called Nataya that looked pretty cool. Definitely filing that away for later!
- Color: Navy, jewel teal, or maybe emerald green.
- Style: Simple, classy, maybe a touch of vintage.
- Message: “Mother of the Groom,” “Team Groom,” or a fun, themed phrase.
Checking Out Stores
Next, I decided to check out a few stores I know. I remembered a place called Kohl’s that always has a bunch of sales. I searched their website and found some “Mother of the Bride” stuff, even plus-size dresses, but not specifically the tee shirts I was after. They did have a lot of jumpsuits and rompers for women, which is a whole other rabbit hole to go down later.
Then I remembered seeing a brand called “2b bebe” a while back. I found a site that sells it at a discount, along with a bunch of other brands. Again, not what I needed for the shirts, but good to know for later.
Getting Crafty
After hitting a dead end with the stores, I figured, why not try making the shirts myself? I could get some plain tees and use fabric paint or iron-on transfers. I even found a website that explains all the Photoshop tools. I’m not a Photoshop expert, but I could probably figure it out. I also thought I had a friend who knew how to use Photoshop. That could be an option, or I could just keep it simple with some stencils and fabric markers. I’m still weighing my options here, but it’s definitely something to think about.
So, that’s where I’m at with my “mother of the groom” tee shirt project. It’s been a fun little adventure so far, even if I haven’t found the perfect solution yet. I’m leaning towards the DIY route, but I’m still open to other ideas. I’ll keep you all posted on my progress!
