I went on down to this Galleria area, they said there were lots of shops there. Belle me Bridal, Nima Boutique, Impression Bridal. Lordy, so many choices! And the colors! So many to pick from. I heard navy blue is a good one. Or maybe blush, somethin’ light and pretty. Definitely not white, though. Only the bride wears white, that’s just how it is. And I heard red ain’t a good idea either. It’s a little too flashy for the mother of the bride. She ain’t supposed to be the center of attention, you know.
Now, these dresses, they ain’t cheap. Some of ’em cost more than my old car! They say some of these fancy places, these “boutiques” or somethin’, they charge an arm and a leg. Hundreds, maybe even thousands! For a dress! Can you believe it? I want to find a good price for my mother of the bride dress.

Back in my day, we just sewed our own dresses. Didn’t need no fancy store. But times have changed, I reckon. And I do want to look nice for my daughter. It’s her special day. She’s my only girl, you see. Gotta make her proud.
