Okay, so, I’ve been planning my wedding, and let me tell you, finding the right bridesmaid dresses has been a journey! I really wanted to go with purple lace for my girls, something elegant but not too over-the-top. It turned out to be a bit more challenging than I thought it would be.
First off, I started browsing online, just to get a feel for what was out there. I checked out a bunch of different stores and websites. There are so many shades of purple! I saw everything from a light, almost lavender, to a deep, rich eggplant. I even found some called aubergine, purplish, and plum, and dusty lavender, lilac. I needed to narrow it down.
Then I started thinking about the style. Lace can be tricky, you know? I didn’t want anything too sheer, but I still wanted that delicate, lacy look. I looked at dresses with different weights and patterns of lace. Some were super heavy and looked kind of old-fashioned, while others were so light they seemed like they might fall apart. And the price! Some of these dresses were crazy expensive. I found a store with purple bridesmaid dresses under $100, but they weren’t quite what I had in mind. There’s even plus sizes!
I decided to hit up a few local bridal shops. Trying on dresses in person is a whole different ball game. You really get to see how the fabric moves and how the color looks in different lighting. I dragged my best friend along for moral support, which was a lifesaver.
We tried on a bunch of dresses, and I mean a BUNCH. Some were okay, but nothing was really jumping out at me. Then, we stumbled upon this one shop that had a whole collection of purple bridesmaid dresses. And they had one dress, a gorgeous light purple with a delicate lace overlay, that just felt right. It was simple, but elegant, and it looked great on everyone who tried it on. And the most important was that it’s light and comfortable.
I also read a story of a tailor who was responsible for Meghan Markle’s bridesmaids’ dresses. He said that he was “not surprised” by the tearful outcome of the fitting between Meghan and Kate Middleton. Hope it won’t happen on my bridesmaids.
After some back and forth, we finally made the decision. We ordered the dresses, and I can’t wait to see my bridesmaids all dolled up in them on the big day! It was definitely a process, but I’m so happy with how it all turned out. It just goes to show that sometimes you have to put in a little extra effort to find exactly what you’re looking for.
