Okay, so, I’ve always been a sucker for weddings, and Indian weddings? Don’t even get me started! The colors, the traditions, the whole vibe – it’s just magical. So, when my best friend, Priya, told me she was getting hitched and wanted me to be her bridesmaid, I was over the moon! But, let me tell you, figuring out the whole “Indian bridesmaid” look was quite the journey.
First things first, I scoured the internet for inspiration. I mean, I typed “Indian bridesmaid” into every search engine you can think of. I found some interesting stuff – articles talking about lehengas, shararas, and sarees. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. There’s just so much out there!
Then, I started digging into the makeup side of things. Because, let’s face it, the outfit is only half the battle, right? I stumbled upon this blog talking about different makeup looks for each wedding event – like a soft look for the Mehendi, a glamorous one for the Sangeet, and a classic traditional look for the wedding day. It sounded cool, but also a bit intimidating. I’m no makeup pro, you know?
Outfit Ideas
- Lehenga Choli: This is like the classic Indian bridesmaid choice. It’s a skirt and a blouse, and it can be as simple or as fancy as you want.
- Sharara Suit: These are flowy pants with a top, and they’re super comfy and stylish. Perfect for dancing the night away!
- Saree: The elegant drape that’s always a winner. But, I’ve never worn one before, so that was a bit of a challenge.
I decided to go with a lehenga for the wedding day because it just felt right. I spent hours browsing online stores and finally found “the one” – a beautiful, flowy lehenga in a gorgeous shade of pink. It was perfect!
As for the makeup, I watched a bunch of YouTube tutorials. I learned some basic stuff about applying foundation, doing a bit of contouring, and even tried my hand at winged eyeliner (which, let me tell you, is harder than it looks!). I practiced a few times, and while I wouldn’t say I became a makeup artist overnight, I did manage to create a look that I was happy with. It was simple, but it made me feel pretty and confident.
The wedding day finally arrived, and it was everything I had imagined and more. Priya looked absolutely stunning, and I felt so honored to be standing by her side. I got so many compliments on my outfit and makeup, which was a huge confidence booster. And you know what? I even managed to dance the night away without smudging my makeup or tripping over my lehenga. Success!
Being an Indian bridesmaid was an amazing experience. It was a lot of work, but it was totally worth it. I learned so much about Indian culture, fashion, and makeup, and I got to be a part of my best friend’s special day. What more could a girl ask for?
