Well, hello there everyone! Gather ‘round, gather ‘round, don’t be shy now. Y’all come here to celebrate, ain’t ya? Me too! My little gal, she’s gettin’ hitched today. Can you believe it? Seems like just yesterday she was a little tyke, runnin’ around with scraped knees and a grin wider than a watermelon.
First off, I wanna say a big thank you to all you folks for comin’. Some of ya traveled a far piece, I know. Means a lot to us, it really does. Seein’ all your smilin’ faces, well, it just warms my old heart. This here’s a special day, a real special day, and we’re mighty glad you’re here to share it with us.
Now, let’s talk about my girl. My daughter. She’s always been a bright spark, that one. Always had a mind of her own, too. Remember that time she tried to paint the dog green? Lord, have mercy! Or the time she decided to cut her own hair and ended up lookin’ like a plucked chicken? We laughed ‘til our sides hurt, we did. She’s give me my fair share of grey hairs, that’s for sure, but wouldn’t trade it for the world.
- She’s smart as a whip, even if she didn’t always listen to her old ma.
- She’s got a heart of gold, always lookin’ out for the underdog.
- And she’s found herself a good man, a real good man. That makes me happy, real happy.
And speakin’ of the groom, he’s alright, I reckon. He treats my girl right, and that’s all that matters to this old woman. He makes her laugh, and that’s important you know? Life’s too short to be serious all the time. They seem happy together, and that’s what a mother wants, you know? To see her child happy.
I remember when she first brought him home. I was a bit skeptical, naturally. Any mother would be. But he won me over pretty quick. He’s polite, he’s kind, and he clearly adores my daughter. And let me tell you, that goes a long way with me.
Gettin’ married, well, it’s a big step. It ain’t always easy, but it’s worth it. You gotta work at it, you know? Like a good garden, you gotta tend to it, water it, and pull out the weeds. But if you do that, you’ll have somethin’ beautiful. Marriage is like that, it needs work, but it’s full of beautiful moments.
So, to my daughter and my new son-in-law, I wish you all the happiness in the world. Be good to each other, love each other, and always, always communicate. Don’t let little things fester, talk it out, even if it’s hard. And remember, laughter is the best medicine. Laugh together, cry together, and grow old together. That’s what I did with her father, God rest his soul, and I wouldn’t have traded it for anything.
And to all of you here today, thank you again for being here. Let’s raise a glass to the happy couple! May their life together be long, happy, and full of love. And now, let’s get this party started! I hear there’s cake, and you know I can’t resist a good piece of cake!
I’m so proud of the woman my little girl has become. She’s strong, she’s independent, and she’s found someone who loves her just as much as I do. What more could a mother ask for? Now go on, you two, enjoy your day. You deserve it.
And one last thing, don’t forget to call your mother! I mean it now. And come visit sometimes, I get lonely out there in my little place. It’s too quiet now that she is moving out, she always did fill the place with life. But it’s a happy day, so I won’t dwell. Now, let’s eat!
