Okay, here’s my blog post about putting together casual groomsmen outfits:
So, my buddy Mark was getting hitched, and he’s a pretty chill dude. He didn’t want the whole penguin suit thing for his wedding, and honestly, neither did we. He asked me to help figure out some casual outfits for the groomsmen that wouldn’t look like we were going to a funeral or, you know, a business meeting. We wanted to look good, but also be comfortable and not break the bank. Here is how I went about it.
Started With the Basics
First off, I had a chat with Mark about the overall vibe he was going for. He said “casual, but not sloppy.” Alright, challenge accepted. He also mentioned the wedding was going to be outdoors, in the summer, so we definitely wanted to avoid heavy fabrics.
Did Some Digging
Then, I spent some time looking online for inspiration. I started looking at real wedding photos, you know, to see what other people had done. I also checked out some men’s fashion blogs and stuff. Got a bunch of ideas, but some were way too formal, and others were, well, too casual. We needed that sweet spot in between.
Narrowed It Down
After gathering a ton of ideas, I started narrowing it down. We decided to ditch the jackets altogether. Too hot, too stuffy. Instead, we focused on finding some nice shirts. We considered linen, but ultimately, settled on some good quality cotton shirts in light colors. They look clean and are also really comfortable.
Picked the Pants
For the pants, we thought about chinos, and they seemed like a solid choice. Not too formal, not too casual. We went for some slim-fit chinos in neutral colors like beige and light gray. They go with pretty much anything, which is always a plus.
Shoes and Accessories
Next up, shoes. We wanted something a bit more than sneakers, but not dress shoes either. Loafers seemed like the right move. They’re comfy and still look put together. For accessories, we kept it simple. Mark didn’t want anything too flashy, so we decided on leather belts that matched the shoes, and that was pretty much it.
Put It All Together
Finally, we got all the guys together to try everything on. We wanted to make sure everyone was comfortable and the outfits looked good on them. A few minor adjustments here and there, but overall, it was a success! Everyone looked sharp, but still relaxed and ready to celebrate.
The Big Day
On the wedding day, everything went great. The outfits were a hit. Everyone looked good in the photos, and most importantly, we were all comfortable enough to dance the night away. Mark was happy, his bride was happy, and we were happy. Mission accomplished! It was not difficult to achieve the casual but not sloppy look. And we all looked pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.
So, yeah, that’s how I helped put together some casual groomsmen outfits. It wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. Just takes a bit of planning, and you’re good to go!
