Okay, so picture this: my granddaughter’s getting hitched, and yours truly needs to find a dress. Not just any dress, mind you. We’re talking about a grandmother of the bride plus size dress. Yeah, I’ve got a few extra curves, and I wanted something that makes me feel good and look good, you know?
First off, I thought, “No way am I wearing white.” I mean, come on, that’s the bride’s color! And black? Too gloomy for a wedding, right? I needed some color in my life, so I started thinking, maybe a deep green, like a forest, or a classy navy blue. A friend even suggested burgundy, which I thought sounded pretty fancy.
Next, I figured, it’s gotta be long. I saw some folks suggesting that grandmothers should wear floor-length, it matches the whole formal vibe of the wedding. I wasn’t sure about a dress though. I’m a pants girl at heart, so I started looking at pantsuits, too. They seemed like a good option – comfy and stylish.
Started to search for ideas.
I did see some dresses online that had this lace cape thing with chiffon. Looked pretty, but I wasn’t sure if it was “me.” It is better to go to the physical store to try it on, isn’t it? So, I skipped it.
I was going to a store.
I went to Dillard’s, because I remembered they had a good selection of dresses. I also wanted to try them on, see how they felt, you know? No luck though.
Trying and trying…
I tried on a bunch of dresses at different stores. Some were okay, but nothing really clicked. I wanted to feel like a million bucks, not just… okay. Also, I wanted to make sure my hair looked decent, and maybe even get my makeup done professionally. All these things, the dress, the hair, the makeup – they all gotta work together, right?
Finally!
Then, I found it! Not at Dillard’s, but at a little boutique I stumbled upon. It was a beautiful navy blue dress, and it fit like a dream. It made me feel confident and, dare I say, kinda glamorous! I knew right then and there, this was the one.
So, yeah, that’s my story of finding the perfect dress. It took some time and a bit of effort, but it was worth it. I’m all set to celebrate my granddaughter’s big day, feeling good and looking my best!
