Okay, so I was in charge of picking the tunes for my buddy’s wedding entrance, specifically for the groomsmen. What a task, right? I wanted something that would pump everyone up but also not be too cheesy. I mean, we’ve all been to those weddings where the music just makes you cringe.
First off, I started by thinking about the guys themselves. What kind of music do they actually like? What gets them going? This was important because I wanted the entrance to feel genuine, not forced.
Then, I dove into the depths of my old music collection and some new stuff too. I was looking for songs with a good beat, some energy, you know? I remember listening to, like, a hundred different songs, from classic rock to some hip-hop, even some country.
- I remembered this old track by Hank Williams, “40 Greatest Hits”. It was a bit too classic, but it got me thinking about the vibe.
- Then there was Bryan Adams. I mean, who doesn’t love “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You”? But that’s more of a first dance kind of song, not really an entrance anthem.
- George Strait popped into my head. That guy has so many hits. I was trying not to list them all, seriously.
- And Bon Jovi! “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “You Give Love a Bad Name” – those were some serious contenders. High energy, everyone knows them.
- Country love songs came up at some point too, that was a whole different research.
I spent hours making a playlist, adding and removing songs. I even played some of them out loud, imagining the groomsmen walking in, trying to picture the scene. It was a bit ridiculous, I guess, but I wanted it to be perfect.
I asked a couple of friends for their opinions too, which was helpful. They threw in some suggestions I hadn’t even thought of. It’s funny how everyone has their own idea of what makes a good entrance song.
Finally, after a lot of back and forth, I narrowed it down to a solid list. I made sure there was a good mix, so it wouldn’t get boring. And I think I nailed it. Everyone at the wedding loved the choices, and the groomsmen? They were totally feeling it. They walked in like they owned the place, and the energy in the room was awesome. Mission accomplished, I’d say.
Conclusion
It was way more work than I thought it would be, but totally worth it. Seeing my friend and his groomsmen having a blast during their entrance, all thanks to the music I picked? That was a pretty great feeling. Plus, now I have a killer playlist for any future events. Who knew picking wedding music could be so much fun?
