Okay, so, my big day is coming up, and man, I wanted to be on top of everything. I mean, who doesn’t? It’s your wedding day! So, I started looking up stuff online about what I needed to do to get ready. There’s a bunch of stuff out there, for real, but it felt like a lot. I figured I’d break it down into what I actually did, step by step.
First, I started making a list months in advance. Yeah, months. It was a “save the date” kind of thing and I picked my best man. This guy’s been my best friend since, like, forever. Also, I had to figure out how many of my buddies I needed to help usher people in. I think the rule of thumb I found online was one usher for every 50 guests. We started simple, just figuring out a rough guest list, nothing too crazy.
Then, the real planning started. We picked a date and started calling up some venues. Now, here’s a tip. These places can book up fast so decide your favorite places and call them as soon as possible. That was a bit of a headache, not gonna lie. But we got it done. Then I had to think about what I was gonna wear. I decided to buy a new suit. I went to this store, got measured, and picked out a slick-looking suit. Felt good, man.
As the date got closer, I made sure to confirm everything with the venue, the photographer, the DJ, all those guys. You don’t want any surprises on your wedding day, trust me. I even made a little schedule of how the day was supposed to go, just so I had an idea. Kept me feeling in control, you know?
On the Big Day
- Shower and Shave: This is obvious, but you’d be surprised. Get a good, clean shave. Don’t want to look scruffy in the photos.
- Hair: Got a haircut a week before, so I just had to style it. Used some product, made sure it looked sharp.
- Cologne: Just a little bit. Don’t want to overpower everyone. I wanted to smell good but not too much.
- Suit Up: Putting on that suit felt different this time. This was it. The real deal.
- Accessories: Watch, tie, cufflinks. The whole nine yards. Made sure everything matched and looked good together.
- Shoes: Broke them in a couple weeks before so they wouldn’t hurt my feet during the ceremony.
- Eat Something: I grabbed a light breakfast, just to have something in my stomach.
- Emergency Kit: My best man had this. Mints, stain remover, you name it. Just in case.
- The Rings: Almost forgot! I made sure I had the rings in a safe place. I had my best man carry them. I trust him with my life.
The day went by so fast. It was all a blur, to be honest. But I felt good. I felt ready. And I think that’s the important thing. My wife looked stunning, and I couldn’t help but smile the whole time. It was the best day of my life, for sure.
Looking back, I’m glad I put in the effort to get ready. It made the day that much more special. If you’re getting married soon, just remember to breathe, enjoy the process, and don’t forget the rings!
