Oh boy, let me tell you about these dog bride dress things. My granddaughter, she’s gettin’ hitched next spring, and she’s all about her little yapper, Daisy. Wants that dog in the wedding, she does. Now, I’ve seen it all, but this takes the cake. They’re puttin’ dresses on dogs now, like they’re little people!
So, she’s showin’ me these pictures online, these dog bride dresses. Some are white, some are pink, some got more frills than a square dance petticoat. She says it’s the best way to have Daisy be a part of the big day. The dog is like family, she says. These dresses, they sure make for a good picture, she says. I guess that’s important these days, good pictures.
My granddaughter, she found a dress for Daisy. It’s white, got a little bow and some lace. Says it’s the best one, the most unique. I don’t know about unique, but it sure is somethin’. She’s havin’ a good time, she says, findin’ these dog wedding clothes. Says it’s funny, how they look like people clothes, but tiny. I guess it is kinda funny, if you think about it.
She’s got this whole thing planned out. Daisy’s gonna walk down the aisle with the little ring bearer boy. That boy’s a handful, let me tell ya. Hope he doesn’t lose the rings, or Daisy doesn’t decide to chase a squirrel or somethin’. Wouldn’t that be a sight? Dog bride dress and all, runnin’ wild.

I seen folks dress up all sorts of critters. Cats, dogs, even a pig once! They put flower crowns on them, little suits, even bow ties. They got tweed coats and fancy collars for dogs now too, you know. I saw a picture of a dog in a whole tuxedo once, the whole get-up! It’s a real thing, these dog outfits for weddings.
Now, Daisy, she’s a good dog. But she’s a dog. She likes to roll in the dirt, chew on sticks, chase her tail. I don’t know how she’s gonna do in that fancy dress. My granddaughter, she says Daisy will be fine. Says she’ll get used to it. We’ll see about that. These dog clothes, they’re somethin’ else.

I told her, back in my day, we didn’t dress up our dogs for weddin’s. We were lucky if we had a clean shirt to wear ourselves! But times change, I reckon. If it makes her happy, then I guess it’s alright. As long as that dog doesn’t eat the weddin’ cake, we’ll be fine. And if the dog don’t like the suit, they got other things. Little hats, bandanas, you name it.

I just hope that little dog doesn’t get too hot in that dress. It’s gonna be outside, and even in the spring, it can get warm. We’ll have to make sure she has plenty of water. And maybe a little fan to keep her cool. A dog in a wedding dress, who would have thought? But hey, if it makes my granddaughter happy, then I’m happy too. It’s her big day, after all.
