Alright, listen up, y’all. We’re here today ’cause my boy, he’s gettin’ hitched. Never thought I’d see the day, honestly. Always figured he’d be one of them bachelors, you know? But then this gal came along and, well, she swept him right off his feet. Can’t say I blame him, she’s a good ‘un.
So, they asked me to say a few words. Me! Never been much for public speaking, always been more of a doer than a talker. But for my boy, I’ll do anything. So here goes nothin’.
First off, to my son. Boy, you were a handful, let me tell ya. Remember that time you tried to paint the dog green? Or when you set off them firecrackers in the house? Lord, have mercy. But through it all, you always had a good heart. And look at you now, all grown up and getting married. Makes a mama proud, it does. I remember when you were just a little tyke, barely up to my knees. And now, you’re standing here, taller than me and ready to start your own family. Time sure does fly, don’t it? I’m so proud of the man you’ve become, son. You found yourself a good woman, and that makes me happier than you can imagine.
And to my new daughter-in-law, welcome to the family, sweetie. You’re a breath of fresh air, you are. You treat my boy right, and we’ll get along just fine. I see the way you look at him, the way you make him laugh. That’s all a mama wants for her son, you know? Someone who loves him and makes him happy. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders, and I can tell you’re gonna be a wonderful wife. Thank you for loving my son the way you do. And you know, you’re one of us now. Family’s important, and you’re part of our family now.
- We’re so happy to have you.
- You make a beautiful couple.
- And we are so blessed to have you both in our lives.
Now, I ain’t gonna stand up here and give you a bunch of advice. You two are grown-ups, you’ll figure things out on your own. But I will say this: marriage ain’t always easy. There’ll be good times and bad times, ups and downs. But as long as you love each other and stick together, you can get through anything. You gotta communicate. Talk to each other, even when it’s hard. And remember to laugh. Life’s too short to be serious all the time.
And for all you folks here today, thank you for comin’. Means a lot to us to have you here to celebrate with us. It really does warm my heart to see so many friendly faces. This wedding, it ain’t just about my boy and his wife, it’s about all of us coming together as a community. We’re all family here today, you know? And that’s what matters most. So let’s eat, drink, and be merry! Let’s celebrate love and happiness and the start of a brand new chapter for these two young people. Raise your glasses with me, y’all, to the happy couple!
I tell ya, seein’ them up there, all happy and in love, makes an old woman’s heart full. It reminds me of when me and my husband got hitched, all those years ago. We didn’t have much, but we had each other. And that’s all that matters. Love, family, that’s what life’s all about, ain’t it? So here’s to love, laughter, and happily ever after! May your life together be filled with joy, happiness, and a whole lotta love. And remember, y’all, family is everything. Cherish it always.
And one last thing, you two lovebirds. Remember to always be kind to each other, and never go to bed angry. Life’s too short for that kind of nonsense. Just love each other, and everything else will fall into place. And don’t forget to call your mama every now and then, ya hear?
