Alright, so, I recently went through the whole shebang of planning a Catholic wedding. Man, it was something else! One of the things I really wanted to nail down was the music, especially for my bride’s entrance. Let me tell you, finding the perfect song was quite a journey.
First, I started by thinking about what kind of vibe we wanted. You know, something that felt sacred but also joyful. We’re talking about a Catholic wedding here, so I dug into some traditional hymns. “Ave Maria” and “Canon in D” were definitely on the list. They’re classics for a reason, right?
Then, I started to look into songs that felt more personal to us. I mean, the music had to mean something to both of us. We listened to a bunch of songs together, trying to find that special one.
After a little bit of research, I found a few popular songs for a bride’s entrance, such as:
- Wagner: Here Comes the Bride
- Mendelssohn: Wedding March
- Bach: Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring
- Elvis Presley: Can’t Help Falling in Love
- Christina Perri: A Thousand Years
Brainstorming
I spent hours listening to different versions of these songs, some instrumental, some with vocals. “Here Comes the Bride”, “Wedding March”, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and “Ave Maria” always gives me goosebumps, but would it work for us? I wasn’t totally sure. “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and “A Thousand Years” were more contemporary, so I added them to the list to consider as well.
We also thought about “Canon in D” and “Dance of the Clouds” because they’re beautiful pieces, but we wanted something with a bit more… I don’t know, emotional impact? Something that would really make the moment special. We even considered using “Origen (Dance of the Clouds)” for a unique touch, but we wanted something that our families would recognize and appreciate.
Making the Choice
So, after lots of listening, and talking, and listening some more, we finally made our choice. It was tough, but we landed on a song that felt just right for us. It’s a bit of a mix between traditional and modern, and it really captures the feeling we were going for. I won’t spoil the surprise here, but let’s just say it was a beautiful moment when my bride walked down the aisle. The music just filled the church, and it was perfect.
Honestly, picking the right song for the bride’s entrance is a big deal. It sets the tone for the whole ceremony. My advice? Take your time, listen to lots of options, and choose something that truly speaks to you as a couple. It’s a moment you’ll remember forever, so make it count!
