Okay, so, I got this gig to do a photoshoot for my friend’s wedding, specifically for the bridesmaids. I was pretty stoked because, you know, weddings are a big deal, and I wanted to make sure everything was perfect. First thing I did was jump on a call with the bride and her squad.
We brainstormed some ideas, flipping through some magazines and scrolling through Pinterest for inspiration. We talked about the vibe they were going for – they wanted something classy but fun. Then we got into the nitty-gritty, like locations. The wedding was happening in this gorgeous area with tons of natural beauty, so we picked out a few spots that I thought would look amazing in photos – a cute little park, a rustic-looking bridge, and this charming little café with outdoor seating.
- First location is the park with lots of green, hope it’s not too sunny!
- That bridge might be tricky, gotta watch out for those harsh shadows.
- The café sounds perfect for some candid shots, very chill vibes.
I made a list of all the shots we wanted to get, kind of like a checklist. You know, the classic “getting ready” shots, some posed portraits, and definitely some fun, candid moments. I also made sure to chat with the bridesmaids about what they were comfortable with. Some of them were a bit camera-shy, so I wanted to make sure they felt relaxed and natural during the shoot.
On the day of the shoot, I arrived early to set up and test out the lighting. I always bring a bunch of gear – different lenses, reflectors, even a step ladder for those tricky angles. The girls arrived looking stunning in their dresses, and we got straight to work. We started with the “getting ready” shots, which were super fun. Lots of laughter, a bit of champagne, you know the drill. I made sure to capture all those little details – the makeup, the hair, the dresses. I think it’s those little things that really tell the story.
Then we moved on to the outdoor locations. The park was perfect – the light was soft and golden, just like I hoped. We got some beautiful shots of the bridesmaids walking, laughing, and just being themselves. The bridge was a bit more challenging because of the shadows, but I used my reflector to bounce some light back onto their faces, and it worked out great.
We ended the day at the café, where I captured some more relaxed, candid shots. The girls were chatting, sipping coffee, and just enjoying each other’s company. I think those were some of my favorite shots of the day. They just felt so genuine and authentic.
After the shoot, I spent hours editing the photos. I wanted to make sure they were absolutely perfect. I adjusted the colors, tweaked the lighting, and removed any little imperfections. It was a lot of work, but it was totally worth it. When I finally showed the photos to the bride and bridesmaids, they were over the moon. They loved how I captured the joy and excitement of the day. And honestly, that’s the best part of the job – making people happy with my work.
Postscript
I had a blast shooting these bridesmaids. It was a long day but so rewarding. Seeing their faces light up when they saw the final photos made all the effort worthwhile. It also reminded me why I love photography so much – it’s about capturing those special moments and creating lasting memories. Plus, I got to hang out with a fun group of ladies and be part of their special day. Can’t ask for much more than that!
