Well, hey there, sugar! You lookin’ for somethin’ pretty? I hear you talkin’ ’bout bridesmaid dresses in red and black. That’s a bold choice, I tell ya! Reminds me of a fiery sunset, that does. Lots of folks are sayin’ them green dresses are all the rage now, all shades of green like a big ol’ field of grass. But red and black? That’s somethin’ special, somethin’ with a little kick to it. These days got more options than a pig in slop!
You gotta think about what kinda red and what kinda black you want. There’s that bright, fire engine red, like my old Betty’s lipstick, and then there’s that deep, dark red, like a good wine. Same with black, got a shiny black, a flat black, you know? We see lots of brides go with that deep red, kinda like a berry, or burgundy bridesmaid dresses. That is a good choice.

And where are these girls gonna be wearin’ these red and black bridesmaid dresses? Out in the sun? Under the church lights? Makes a difference, I reckon. Bright lights might make that red pop a little too much, might wash out the black. Dim lights, well, that deep red might just look black, and then where are ya? It’s a real head-scratcher, ain’t it?
Now, I seen some dresses that are all red on top and black on the bottom. Or maybe it’s the other way around. Or they got a red dress with a black sash, or a black dress with some red flowers on it. Lordy, there are so many choices, it makes my head spin faster than a top! They can be short or long, and they can have sleeves or be strapless, which we didn’t have back in my day.
And don’t forget about the girls wearin’ these dresses. You got skinny ones, you got plump ones, you got tall ones, you got short ones. You gotta find somethin’ that makes ’em all look good, and that ain’t always easy. A dress that looks good on a skinny Minnie might make a bigger gal look like a stuffed sausage! And you want all your girls to feel good, don’t ya? Happy girls make for happy pictures, and that’s what you want, ain’t it?
You can find dresses with different tops. Red and black bridesmaid dresses could have a round neck, or maybe it is v-neck or it has straps. Some of these dresses have a cut-out back, and some of them are like you are wearing a sweater almost. I have seen it all, I tell ya. Those poor girls will be standin’ next to you in all them pictures, so you best be sure the dresses don’t make you look bad, neither! It’s a lot to think about, I know
