Okay, so, wedding planning, right? It’s a whirlwind! But one of the fun parts is figuring out your look, and for me, the hairstyle was a big deal. I knew I wanted an updo because, well, it’s classic and elegant, and I wanted to wear a veil, you know, to feel like a real bride and stuff. I spent like a whole month just scrolling through tons of pictures online, trying to find something that felt like “me.” I saw everything from super sleek, tight buns to these loose, messy things with flowers and braids. It was a lot.
Then came the fun part – trying things out! I booked a trial with a hairstylist a friend recommended. I think I saved her business card as “Hair Goddess” in my phone. First, we went through a bunch of looks I liked. I showed her all the pictures I’d saved – I probably had like a hundred. We narrowed it down to a few styles that seemed doable with my hair type, which is naturally kind of wavy and, honestly, a bit frizzy sometimes. She was great, super patient, and really listened to what I wanted. The first style we tried was a classic chignon, low at the nape of my neck. It was pretty, but it felt a little too formal, maybe a bit too serious for my personality. So, we moved on.
Next, she did this softer updo, with some loose curls around my face. This one felt much better. It was still elegant, but a bit more relaxed, you know? We played around with adding a few braids, too, just for fun. I liked the braids, but ultimately, I decided to keep it simpler. Then came the veil. We tried a few different placements. First, she put it on top of my head, like a traditional look. It was okay, but I felt like it was hiding the hairstyle a bit too much. Then, she tucked it underneath the updo, and that was it! That was the one. It looked so much more natural and flowed really nicely. It was awesome.
- First trial: Classic chignon – too formal.
- Second trial: Softer updo with loose curls – much better.
- Veil placement: Underneath the updo – perfect!
Finally, after trying these styles out, I realized that I was totally right to go with an updo and veil. The whole look just came together perfectly. It felt so bridal, but still very “me.” On the actual wedding day, the hairstylist came to my hotel room, and we recreated the look. Honestly, I felt like a princess. The updo stayed put all day, even through all the dancing, and the veil just added that extra touch of magic. I’m so glad I took the time to figure out what I wanted and didn’t just go with the first thing I saw. It was a great experience for me. I tried out a couple of different styles, figured out the veil situation, and ended up with a look I absolutely loved. It’s definitely worth doing a trial run if you can. It made all the difference for me!
My advice for any bride trying to figure out their hair and veil situation is to just have fun with it.
Try different things, don’t be afraid to experiment, and definitely do a trial run with your stylist. Trust me, it’ll save you a lot of stress on the big day! So yeah, that’s my little story about finding the perfect bridal updo with a veil. I hope my journey gives you some confidence on your own bridal hair adventure.
