Okay, so my best friend asked me to be her maid of honor, and I was like, “YES!” But then came the tricky part – finding bridesmaid dresses. She wanted something unique, so we landed on blue and gold. Sounds fancy, right? It kind of was, but also a bit of a headache to get just right.
First, we scoured the internet. I mean, we looked at every online shop you can think of. We found some okay options, but nothing that really made us go “Wow!” Some were too plain, others were way too flashy. And the colors! Oh boy, getting the right shade of blue AND gold that actually looked good together was tough.
- Too much gold looked tacky.
- Too much blue looked boring.
After a few days, we decided to hit up some local bridal stores. We thought maybe seeing the dresses in person would help. We tried on a bunch, and I mean a BUNCH of dresses. Some were hilarious on us, others just didn’t fit the vibe. We almost gave up hope. But then, in the last store, we found them. These gorgeous dresses that were a beautiful shade of navy blue with delicate gold lace detailing. They were perfect! Elegant, but not too over the top.
We all tried them on, and everyone loved them! They flattered all of our different body types, which was a huge relief. It wasn’t an easy task to find a dress that fit every one of my friend’s bridesmaids.
So, after all that searching, we finally got our blue and gold bridesmaid dresses. It was a journey, but seeing how happy my friend was made it all worth it. Plus, we all looked pretty darn good on the big day, if I do say so myself! The groom and his groomsmen wore ivory suits and looked great with us bridesmaids too. We created a very nice contrast and received many compliments.
