Okay, so, I recently took on a new project—picking out the processional music for my best friend’s wedding. I really wanted to make sure the music set the right tone for her big day. Talk about pressure, right?
I started by thinking about what kind of vibe we were going for. Did we want something classic and traditional, or something more modern and unique? Since her wedding is going to be in a beautiful garden, I figured something with a romantic and slightly whimsical feel would be perfect.
Next, I dove into the endless world of music. I spent hours on the internet, browsing through tons of wedding playlists and articles. I listened to everything from classical pieces to instrumental versions of pop songs. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest, but also kind of fun. Here’s a bit of what my initial list looked like:
- Classical pieces like Pachelbel’s “Canon in D”
- Instrumental covers of songs like “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
- Some more upbeat options like “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé (for when the bridesmaids and groomsmen walk in)
- And even some sweet, classic tunes like “Over the Rainbow” for the flower girl and ring bearer.
After making my huge list, I started narrowing it down. I played the songs for the bride and a couple of other friends to get their opinions. We talked about how each song made us feel and whether it fit the overall vision for the ceremony. This part was super helpful because everyone had different perspectives.
The Final Choices
We finally decided on two main songs for the processional. The first one is going to be a beautiful, gentle piece for when the parents are seated, and for the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Then, we’re going to switch to a more special, unique song for when the bride walks down the aisle. It’s a surprise, so I won’t spoil it here, but let’s just say it’s going to be perfect!
This whole process of choosing music was way more involved than I initially thought it would be. But, I really enjoyed it. I feel like I’ve learned a lot about how music can set the mood for an event, and I’m so excited to see it all come together on the wedding day. It’s going to be a beautiful and memorable moment, and I’m so glad I could be a part of it.
