Okay, so, today I wanna talk about bridesmaid dresses, specifically my experience with After Six, a brand I’d heard a lot about. I’m getting hitched soon, and let me tell you, picking out dresses for my girls has been… a journey.
First off, I started this whole bridesmaid dress hunt about seven months before the big day. I read somewhere online that you should start looking like six months in advance. Sounded about right, especially since some of these dresses take a while to ship, and you gotta factor in time for alterations and stuff. So, seven months out, I dove in.
I had this vision, you know? I wanted something that felt… us. Not too traditional, but still classy. I scrolled through a bunch of websites and saw some pretty bold colors that caught my eye. I mean, who doesn’t love a good hot pink or a vibrant orange? But I also didn’t want my bridesmaids looking like they were going to a rave. I am sure my choice is right.
Then, there were the styles. Oh boy. Short, long, midi… My head was spinning. I wanted everyone to feel comfortable and beautiful, but also kinda matchy-matchy, you know? It’s a tough balance. And let’s not even get started on the different body types. Finding one dress to rule them all is, like, mission impossible.
So, I started with the color. I figured that was a good starting point. I ended up going with this gorgeous, dusty blue. It’s soft, romantic, and I think it’ll look good on everyone. I hope, anyway. Then I choose the length of the bridesmaid dress. It’s not a easy job. A long dress can show the elegance of women, and a short one looks more lively. But finally I decided to choose a long one.
After a lot of back and forth, I finally found After Six. Their dresses seemed to tick a lot of boxes. Pretty colors, a decent range of styles, and the prices weren’t totally insane. I ordered a few different styles in my chosen color, just to see them in person and have my bridesmaids try them on.
The dresses arrived, and we had a little try-on party. It was so much fun! There was lots of twirling and posing. We narrowed it down to two styles that everyone seemed to like. After that, I let each bridesmaid pick the style they felt most comfortable in. They’re the ones who have to wear it all day, right?
Finally, I placed the order for all the dresses in their chosen sizes. And I had some customizations to do. I’m so happy that I’ve done this job. We made sure to double-check the measurements, just in case. Now, it’s just a waiting game. Fingers crossed they all arrive on time and fit like a dream!
All in all, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I’m really happy with where we landed. After Six had some great options, and I think my bridesmaids are going to look absolutely stunning. Now, onto the next wedding planning adventure…
