Okay, so, my son’s getting married! It’s a big deal, and of course, I wanted to look my best. I’ve always loved the color green, so I thought, “Why not a green dress?” It turned out to be quite the adventure, finding that perfect shade and style.
First, I started looking around online, just to get some ideas. There are so many different kinds of green dresses out there! Emerald, mint, forest green… you name it. I even saw some called “jewel tones”, which looked pretty fancy. I had to figure out what kind of green would look good on me and also fit the wedding vibe.
Then, I hit the stores. I went to Macy’s first. They had a bunch of dresses, but I didn’t find “the one” right away. I saw some sequined dresses, some long gowns, and even some plus-size options, which was great to see. There was this one Betsy & Adam dress that caught my eye, all sparkly, but it was a little too much for me. I wanted something classy, not too flashy.
- Macy’s: Lots of options, but nothing perfect yet.
Next, I tried Dillard’s. They also had a decent selection of green dresses, but still, nothing clicked. It’s like, you know it when you see it, right? I browsed through their online catalog too, but it was easier to just see the dresses in person and try them on.
- Dillard’s: Still searching…
After that, I went to this place called Saks OFF 5TH. They had some designer stuff at a discount, which was tempting. I saw some really nice emerald green dresses, but they were a bit out of my budget. I mean, Jovani dresses for $500 or $730? That’s a bit much, even for my son’s wedding.
- Saks OFF 5TH: Beautiful but expensive.
I started thinking about what color would really work. Some people online were saying neutral tones like beige or gray are good. Others suggested pastels like mint green. I even read that navy, black, or burgundy are classic choices for the mother of the groom. But I really wanted green!
Then it hit me. I should go for a darker green, something that’s elegant but not too bright. I went back to Macy’s and started looking again. And there it was! A beautiful, long-sleeve, dark green sheath gown. It wasn’t too flashy, had just the right amount of sparkle, and it fit perfectly. It wasn’t cheap, but it was worth it.
- Macy’s again: Found the perfect dress!
So, after all that searching, I finally found my perfect green mother of the groom dress. It was a bit of a journey, but it was all worth it. I can’t wait to wear it and celebrate with my son and his new wife! It is so great!
