My grandson, he’s gettin’ hitched! Told me to help pick out some poses for his buddies at the wedding. Posing groomsmen, they call it. Well, back in my day, we just stood there and smiled. But these days, it’s a whole different story. Kids and their fancy pictures!
Groomsmen, What They Wear?
These young folks, they got all sorts of ideas. Gotta make sure them groomsmen look good, I reckon. My grandson, he wants them all matchy-matchy. Same suits, same shoes. It’s all about the look, I tell ya. The number of groomsmen can be whatever the bride and groom want. It’s their big day, right?
They say, keep it simple. Gray suits, black suits, that’s the way to go. Don’t want them lookin’ like a rainbow threw up on ’em. Then, they can add a little somethin’ somethin’ with a tie or a, what do they call it… a pocket square. It’s all about looking cohesive and coordinating. Whatever that means. Just make ’em look good together, that’s all I care about.
- Black suits, always a good choice.
- Gray suits, them’s nice too.
- Same shoes, gotta have same shoes.
- Little splash of color with the tie or somethin’.
How Many Groomsmen?
How many of these groomsmen should there be? Well, shoot, I don’t know. Back in my day, you had a couple, maybe three. Now, my grandson, he’s got a whole army of ’em. They say 3 to 6 is normal, but these days, folks be having 12 or more! It’s a whole parade!
More groomsmen, more pictures, I guess. More mouths to feed, too! But hey, it’s their wedding, not mine. They can have a whole football team up there if they want. As long as they’re happy, that’s all that matters. A typical number is fine, but if they want a big number, that’s fine too. It’s all about the couple, ain’t it?
What Kinda Poses for Groomsmen?
Now, these poses. That’s the tricky part. They don’t just stand there anymore. They gotta be doin’ somethin’. My grandson showed me some pictures. Some are just them fellas standing there. They look like they’re just hangin’ out, you know, just being fellas. That’s what they do at the start of the day, I reckon. Just hang out and eat breakfast. That’s what boys do.
One they call “Just Hanging Out.” Well, ain’t that what they do all day? Just hang out and wait for the bride. They got another one where they’re all walkin’. Where they goin’? I don’t know. Just walkin’ and talkin’, I guess. These posing groomsmen, they got all sorts of ideas.
Fancy Poses, Not Just Standin’ There
Then they got these fancy poses. One where they’re all jumpin’ in the air. Like a bunch of grasshoppers! What’s that about? I don’t get it. Another one, they’re all lookin’ at their watches. Like they got somewhere to be. It’s a wedding, ain’t no rush!
They got one where the groom, my grandson, he’s in the middle, and the groomsmen are all around him. Like he’s the king or somethin’. I guess he is, for the day. These pictures, they tell a story, they say. Capture the moment. Whatever that means.
- Jumpin’ in the air, like a bunch of fools.
- Lookin’ at their watches, like they’re late for somethin’.
- Groom in the middle, like he’s the boss.
Just Be Yourselves, Boys
I told my grandson, I said, “Just tell them boys to be themselves.” Don’t need all these fancy poses. Just be natural. Smile, laugh, have a good time. That’s what makes a good picture. Not all this jumpin’ and lookin’ at watches.
These posing groomsmen, they just need to relax. It’s a celebration, not a chore. They’re there to support the groom, to be his buddies. That’s what matters. Not how they stand or what they wear. Just be there for him. The pictures will come out good if everyone is having a good time. That’s how I see it, anyway.
This whole posing groomsmen thing is a bit much for me. But, these young folks, they love it. So, I’ll just sit back and watch. And hope they get some good pictures. Pictures that they’ll look back on and remember the good times. That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it? Memories. And maybe some good food, too. I’m hungry already.
