Well, well, well, look at that, eight bridesmaids! My old eyes ain’t what they used to be, but that sure is a whole lotta girls standin’ up there. Back in my day, we didn’t have so many. Maybe two, three tops. But eight? That’s a whole flock!
You see these young’uns today, they got all these fancy ideas. Bridesmaids, they used to just be your sisters and your closest gal pals. Now it’s like a competition, how many you can get up there with ya. And the dresses! Lord have mercy, the dresses. All matchy-matchy, lookin’ like a row of tulips. And don’t even get me started on the cost. Bet those dresses cost more than my whole wedding did!
I remember my own wedding, clear as day. Had my sister, Martha, and my best friend, Bessie, standin’ up with me. Martha wore her Sunday best, and Bessie, bless her heart, borrowed a dress from her cousin. We didn’t have no fancy colors or nothin’. Just happy to be there, celebratin’ love and all that.
Now, these eight bridesmaids, they gotta do all sorts of things. Help the bride get dressed, plan them parties, smile for pictures. It’s a whole production, I tell ya. Back in my day, you just showed up, maybe helped the bride with her veil, and that was that.
Being a bridesmaid can be a lot. Here are some things I think is important:
- Help the bride: It can be stressful. She needs help.
- Be there: Just be there. That’s what matters.
- Smile: Even if you are tired. Smile for the pictures.
- Don’t complain: nobody wants to hear it.
- Have fun: It’s a party, enjoy it!
And these parties! Showers, they call ’em. And bachelorette parties. We didn’t have none of that. We just had a simple dinner with our families the night before the wedding. Now it’s like a whole weekend affair, with games and gifts and Lord knows what else. Sounds exhaustin’, if you ask me.
And then you got the pictures. Hours and hours of pictures. These eight bridesmaids, they’ll be smilin’ until their cheeks hurt. Gotta get the perfect shot, you know. For the… what do they call it? The Insta-gram? We just had a few photos taken by Uncle Earl with his old camera. And they turned out just fine.
I guess things are just different now. These young folks and their eight bridesmaids, they like all the fuss. It’s all about makin’ a big show of it. And that’s their prerogative, I suppose. It ain’t my place to judge.
But I do worry about these girls. Eight bridesmaids, that’s a lot of personalities. Bound to be some drama, some hurt feelin’s. Hope they can all get along and remember what’s important. It ain’t about the dresses or the parties or the pictures. It’s about the bride and groom, and the love they share. It’s a big day, and everyone should be happy for them.
And let me tell ya about spring, this weather is crazy, you know. One day, you think need to wear a coat. Next day you are burnin’ up in the sun. Spring is a tricky time of year. I don’t envy these girls, trying to pick out shoes. Flats? Heels? Sandals? And the weather can change. If it rains on that wedding day, well, those eight bridesmaids better have some umbrellas handy. And maybe some boots!
This bride, she’s got a lot on her plate, too. Pickin’ out eight different dresses, makin’ sure everyone’s happy, plannin’ the whole shebang. It’s a wonder she ain’t pulled out all her hair yet! I bet she need some help. They should give her a little bag, a survival kit. With some aspirin, and some water, and maybe a little somethin’ somethin’ to calm her nerves! That’s what a good bridesmaid does. She thinks of things like that.
These eight bridesmaids, they got their work cut out for ’em. But I hope they have a good time. It’s a special day, a day to remember. And even though it’s a lot different from what I’m used to, I’m sure it’ll be a beautiful wedding. Just hope they all remember to enjoy it, and not get too caught up in all the hoopla.
You know what’s important for a bridesmaid? Just listen. Don’t talk too much. Bride’s got enough on her mind. She doesn’t need advice. She just needs someone to listen. And maybe hold her dress while she goes to the bathroom! That’s real friendship, right there.
At the end of the day, it’s all about love. Cheesy, right? But true. These eight bridesmaids are there to support their friend. That’s what matters. They are there to celebrate love. And maybe eat some cake. Everyone loves cake. Especially me. I hope they have chocolate.
So here’s to the bride and groom! And to the eight bridesmaids, too. May they have a wonderful day, full of love and laughter. And may they all remember to wear comfortable shoes. They’ll be on their feet all day!
