Alright, so you’re tellin’ me it’s your boy’s weddin’, huh? And you, the groom’s momma, gotta look spiffy? Well, listen up, ’cause I’m gonna tell ya how to get fixed up without lookin’ like a painted-up clown.
First things first, that hair. Now, I ain’t talkin’ ’bout no fancy-schmancy stuff you see on them TV shows. We ain’t got time for that nonsense. You want somethin’ that’s gonna stay put and not make you look like you stuck your head in a beehive. Think simple, think elegant. Like, maybe a nice little bun?
- The Bun (or “Chignon” if you wanna be fancy): Yeah, a bun. Keeps the hair outta your face, looks neat, and it ain’t gonna fall apart when you’re huggin’ all them relatives you ain’t seen in years. You can even get it a little messy-lookin’, they call it “textured” I think. Makes it look like you didn’t try too hard, but still look good, you know?
- Half-Up, Half-Down: If you got nice hair and wanna show it off a bit, this is a good one. Just pull some of it back, pin it, and let the rest hang down. Not too fussy, but still pretty.
- The “Stay Outta My Face” Style: Look, if you’re gonna be runnin’ around all day, makin’ sure everything’s runnin’ smooth, you don’t want hair in your eyes. So just pull it all back, pin it good, and be done with it. Nobody’s gonna care if you ain’t got some fancy hairdo. They’re there for the weddin’, not a hair show.
Now, let’s talk about that face paint. I mean, makeup. You don’t wanna scare nobody, right? So keep it natural. Less is more, that’s what I always say. You ain’t tryin’ to look like you’re twenty no more, so don’t try. Embrace them wrinkles, honey, you earned ’em!
Here’s what you need, and listen close ’cause I ain’t repeatin’ myself:
Foundation: Get somethin’ light, somethin’ that matches your skin. Don’t go slatherin’ it on like you’re plasterin’ a wall. Just a little bit to even things out. They call it “matte” now, whatever that means. Just make sure you don’t look shiny, that’s all.
Concealer: This stuff’s for hidin’ them dark circles under your eyes. You know, the ones you got from stayin’ up all night worryin’ ’bout that boy of yours. Just dab a little bit where you need it, blend it in, and poof! Gone! (Well, mostly gone.)
Eye stuff: Now, don’t go crazy with the eyeshadow. A little bit of somethin’ natural-lookin’ is good. Maybe some brown, maybe some soft pink. And mascara? Sure, a little bit to make your eyes pop. But don’t go overboard and end up with spider legs stickin’ outta your eyeballs.
Blush: A little bit of color on your cheeks will make you look alive. Just a touch, mind you. You don’t wanna look like you just ran a marathon. Smile, find them cheekbones, and dab a little bit on.
Lip stuff: Find a nice lipstick that ain’t too bright, ain’t too dark. Somethin’ in between. You want your lips to look nice and kissable, not like you ate a whole box of crayons. Maybe a little bit of lip liner too, to keep it from spreadin’ all over the place.
And listen, about gettin’ your hair and makeup done by them professionals… Well, if your boy’s got the money to spare, go ahead. But if not, don’t you go feelin’ bad about doin’ it yourself. You can look just as good without spendin’ a fortune. And if you do hire someone, make sure they know you ain’t tryin to look like some young gal, ya hear? You’re a grown woman, you want somethin’ that looks good on a grown woman.
Most important thing is, you feel comfortable. You feel good. It’s your boy’s weddin’, you should be enjoyin’ yourself, not fussin’ over your hair and makeup all day. So keep it simple, keep it natural, and you’ll be just fine. And remember, smile! A smile is the best makeup a woman can wear.
And don’t forget to do your makeup after you get your hair done! Otherwise, you’ll end up smearing everything, and nobody wants that.
Oh and another thing, don’t go changing your whole look just for the wedding. Stick to what you know, stick to what you like. You don’t want to look in the mirror and not recognize yourself, do ya?
Now go on, get yourself ready, and have a good time at that weddin’!
