Alright, alright, let’s talk about them… what do you call ’em? Two piece bridesmaid dresses, yeah, that’s it. Now, I ain’t no fancy city gal, but I know a thing or two about clothes, and these two-piece things, well, they’re somethin’ else.
First off, I gotta say, it’s kinda like, you know, when you got a shirt and a skirt? Only, I guess, it’s supposed to be all fancy-like for a weddin’. Some of ’em, they got them tops, what they call ’em, crop tops? Yeah, them short ones. And then a skirt. Now, I seen some girls wearin’ that, and it looks alright, I guess. But me, I always thought a dress should be one whole thing, you know? But hey, what do I know?
I seen some pictures, too, online, on that thing my grandson showed me… the ‘innernet’ or somethin’. These dresses, they come in all sorts of colors. Blue, green, pink, even that shimmery gold stuff. And the skirts, oh my, they got all kinds. Long ones, short ones, some that are kinda… flowy, you know, like when the wind blows. And some that are tight, like, real tight. I tell ya, some of them girls must be holdin’ their breath all day!
- Long sleeves and shorts – now that’s a funny one. Like you can’t decide if you’re hot or cold.
- Pajama sets – for a bridesmaid? Well, I guess if it’s comfy… but still, seems kinda lazy to me.
- Skirts and tops you can mix and match – well, that’s kinda clever, I guess. You could wear that skirt again with a different top, right? Waste not, want not, I always say.
Now, they say you can “mix and match,” these dresses. Like, you can get different tops and different bottoms and put ’em together. I guess that’s good if all your bridesmaids are different shapes and sizes, which, let’s be honest, they usually are. You got your tall ones, your short ones, your skinny ones, and your… well, you know, not-so-skinny ones. So, I guess it makes sense to let them pick somethin’ that fits ’em good.
And the price, oh boy, the price! I seen some that are cheap, like under a hundred dollars, they say. But then you got some that are hundreds, even thousands of dollars! For a dress you’re gonna wear, what, once? Seems kinda crazy to me, but then again, weddings these days, they’re a whole different animal than when I got hitched. We just wore our best Sunday dress, and that was that.
Some places, they got all these fancy designs and stuff. Sequins, lace, all that jazz. And they got different styles too, like they say, “pageant styles.” I don’t know nothin’ about pageants, but I guess it means they’re real flashy and… well, showy. If that’s what the bride wants, then that’s what she gets, I suppose.
But here’s the thing, comfort is important. You don’t want your girls standin’ up there lookin’ all miserable ’cause their dress is too tight or too itchy or too somethin’. So, I reckon, these two-piece things, they might be alright after all. At least the girls can move around a bit, you know? And if they get hot, maybe they can take off the top part for a bit, I don’t know, just sayin’!
So, are two piece bridesmaid dresses a good idea? Well, I reckon it depends. If the bride likes ’em, and the bridesmaids are happy, then who am I to judge? But me, I still think a good old-fashioned dress is the way to go. But hey, times change, and folks got different ideas these days. As long as everyone’s happy and the weddin’ goes off without a hitch, that’s all that matters, right?
And don’t forget, you can find these dresses all over the place. Online, in stores, everywhere you look. Just make sure you get a good deal, and that the girls try ’em on before the big day. You don’t want any surprises, you know?
