Alright, alright, let’s talk about them wedding songs, the ones for the groom when he’s makin’ his big entrance. You know, that moment when everyone’s lookin’ and he’s tryin’ not to trip over his own feet.
First off, you gotta figure out what kinda feel you want. Is your boy a romantic fella? Then maybe somethin’ slow and sweet is the ticket. You know, like them old love songs your grandma used to listen to. Somethin’ that makes the aunties cry a little. I remember hearin’ one of them singers… what was his name… oh yeah, somethin’ Legend somethin’, John Legend I think. He’s got some right nice songs that make ya wanna snuggle up. But if he is not that type, and he is more of the fun-havin’ kind, then go for something fast, alright?
But if your groom’s more of a fun-lovin’ fella, well then you gotta get somethin’ with a bit more pep in its step. Somethin’ that makes folks wanna clap their hands and tap their feet. Maybe one of them songs from the radio. I don’t know the names of them newfangled songs though. The kids these days, they listen to all sorts of stuff.
Now, some folks, they like them fancy songs, the ones without words. You know, them classical numbers. They call it “instrumental” I think. Like that one song, the one that goes “dun dun dun, da da da da”. Everyone knows that one! It’s played at every wedding. I think it’s called “Pachelbel’s Canon” or somethin’ like that. Real classy, you know? Makes the whole thing feel real…well, fancy. Or that wedding march thing, you know, the one they play when the bride walks down. Same fella made it, Mendelssohn I think his name was. Can’t go wrong with them, I guess, if you want to be traditional, like.
But listen, don’t get too caught up in all that fancy stuff. The best song is the one that makes your groom smile, the one that makes him feel good. It doesn’t matter if it’s some big hit song or some old tune nobody’s ever heard of. If it makes him happy, that’s all that matters.
- Think about your groom. What kind of music does he like? What makes him happy? Don’t pick a song just because it’s popular, pick a song because it means somethin’ to him.
- Don’t be afraid to be different. Everybody plays that “dun dun dun” song. If your groom wants to walk in to somethin’ wild and crazy, let him! It’s his day, ain’t it?
- Keep it short and sweet. Nobody wants to sit there while the groom walks in for five minutes. Pick a song that gets to the point. A minute or two, that’s all you need.
I remember this one wedding I went to, the groom, he walked in to some song, real loud and fast. Can’t remember what it was called, but it had a lot of guitars and drums. And everyone started clappin’ and cheerin’. It was a real hoot! Then there was this other wedding, the groom walked in to some slow song, real pretty like. And the bride, she just started cryin’. Happy tears, you know? So it really just depends, see? Depends on what you want, depends on your groom.
There are just so many choices, ain’t there? Like that one song, the one they always play at the discos, “Dancing Queen”. That’s a fun one. Or if your groom’s a big sports fan, maybe that “We Are The Champions” song? That’d be a laugh. Or if he’s a real romantic, somethin’ like that “Unchained Melody” song. The one from that movie, “Ghost” I think? Oh, and there’s this other one, “Runaway”, by that fella Del somethin’. From the sixties. That’s a good one for dancin’. And like I said before, that John Legend fella, he’s got tons of love songs, so you can’t go wrong with him. And then there are all them dance tunes… I heard one the other day, somethin’ about “Where Do You Go?”. Catchy tune, that one.
But the real important thing, the real thing you gotta remember, is that it’s your day. Your groom’s day. Don’t let nobody tell you what song to play. You pick the song that makes you happy, the song that makes your groom happy, and that’s all that matters. Don’t worry about what other folks think. It’s your wedding, not theirs. You do what you want, play what you want, and have a good time. That’s what it’s all about, ain’t it?
So go on, find that perfect song. And when your groom walks in, everybody will know he’s arrived, and they’ll be ready to celebrate. And that, my friends, is what it’s all about.
