Hey there, y’all! So, my niece, she’s gettin’ hitched, you know? And wouldn’t ya know it, she wants all her girls standin’ up there in purple and lilac bridesmaid dresses. Now, I ain’t no fashion expert, mind you, but I gotta help her find these here dresses, and let me tell ya, it ain’t as easy as pickin’ beans!
First off, what in tarnation is lilac anyway? I know purple, like them pretty flowers growin’ in the field, but lilac? Sounds like somethin’ you’d find in a fancy lady’s perfume bottle, not on a dress. But hey, it’s her weddin’, not mine, so I gotta figure this out.
So, I started lookin’ around, and let me tell ya, there’s a whole heap of dresses out there. Some are shiny, some are plain, some are long, some are short, it’s enough to make your head spin! And the prices? Holy moly! Some of them dresses cost more than my ol’ Bessie (that’s my cow, y’see)!
- Long ones: My niece, she’s tall and skinny like a beanpole, so I figured long dresses would look real nice on her girls. But then I thought, what about the dancin’? Can you even do the Chicken Dance in a long dress? I sure hope so, ’cause that’s my favorite!
- Short ones: Now these, they seem more practical for dancin’, but what if it’s cold? Nobody wants goosebumps at a weddin’, right? And some of them short ones, well, they’re a little too short if you know what I mean. Gotta keep it decent, y’know, for the church and all.
- Shiny ones: Oh, these are fancy! All glittery and shimmery, like a fish scale in the sun. But are they comfortable? My niece’s girls are gonna be standin’ up there for a long time, and I don’t want ’em feelin’ itchy and scratchy. Comfy is key, I always say.
- Plain ones: These ain’t bad, just simple and elegant. But sometimes, simple can be boring, you know? You gotta spice it up a bit! Maybe a little lace, or some beads, somethin’ to make ’em pop.
And then there’s the color. Purple, I get. But there’s so many shades of purple! There’s dark purple, light purple, kinda purply-blue purple, and then this lilac color, which I still ain’t quite sure about. It’s like a pale purple, almost a lavender color. My grandma used to have lavender soap, smelled real nice, but I never thought I’d see it on a dress.
So, I been lookin’ online, and at them stores in town, and it’s a real puzzle. You gotta think about the style, the color, the price, and whether them girls can actually move around in ’em. And let’s not forget the shoes! Gotta find shoes that match the dresses, and that are comfortable enough to wear all day and night. This weddin’ plannin’ stuff is harder than workin’ the fields, I tell ya!
But I ain’t givin’ up. My niece, she deserves the best, and I’m gonna find her the purtiest purple and lilac bridesmaid dresses this side of the Mississippi. Even if it means I gotta drag myself to every store in town and look at a million dresses, I’ll do it. Family’s family, y’know? And when I see her walkin’ down that aisle with her girls all dressed up and lookin’ beautiful, it’ll all be worth it. Every last bead and every last stitch.
And maybe, just maybe, I’ll even learn what the heck lilac really is. But until then, I’m just gonna keep callin’ it that purply-lavender color and hope nobody notices. Wish me luck, y’all, ’cause I’m gonna need it!
After lookin’ around some more, I figured somethin’ out. It seems like there’s different ways to get these dresses. You can go to them fancy stores, where they charge an arm and a leg, or you can try lookin’ online. Now, I ain’t too good with computers, but my grandson, he showed me how to look at dresses on the internet. And let me tell ya, there’s a whole world of dresses out there! But you gotta be careful, some of them websites ain’t trustworthy, and you don’t want to end up gettin’ scammed. I heard a story once about a lady who ordered a dress online and got a potato sack instead. Can you imagine? A potato sack! So yeah, you gotta be careful.
Anyway, I’m gonna keep lookin’. I got a few websites bookmarked, and I’m plannin’ on goin’ back to them stores in town next week. I’m determined to find the perfect purple and lilac bridesmaid dresses for my niece’s wedding. It might be a lot of work, but like I said, family’s family, and I’ll do whatever it takes to make her special day perfect.
And you know what? The more I look at these dresses, the more I’m startin’ to appreciate that lilac color. It’s actually kinda pretty, in a soft, gentle kinda way. Maybe I’ll even get myself somethin’ lilac, maybe a nice scarf or somethin’. But that’s for later. Right now, it’s all about them bridesmaid dresses. So, back to the hunt I go!
I tell ya, this whole weddin’ thing, it’s a lot to take in. But I reckon it’s worth it. It’s about love and family and celebratin’ a new beginnin’. And if that means I gotta spend a little time searchin’ for the perfect purple and lilac bridesmaid dresses, then so be it. It’s all part of the fun, I guess. And who knows, maybe I’ll even learn a thing or two about fashion along the way. Although, I doubt it. I’m still more comfortable in my overalls and boots, if you ask me.
