Alright, alright, let’s talk about them white gowns for bridesmaids, you know, the ones the girls wear when your niece is gettin’ hitched. I seen a whole bunch of ’em lately, and lemme tell ya, some things make sense, some things just don’t.
First off, what’s the big deal with white anyway? Back in my day, only the bride wore white. It was a thing, ya know? Pure and all that. Now, everyone’s wearin’ it. Bridesmaids in white? Sounds kinda crazy, like puttin’ the cart before the horse, if ya catch my drift.
But I guess times change, huh? These young folks, they got their own ideas. I heard tell some brides like it ’cause it looks all fancy and统一in the pictures. Makes everything look clean and bright, like a fresh-washed sheet on a sunny day. And I gotta say, some of them dresses, they are right pretty. Flowy and soft, like angel wings or somethin’.
- One thing I don’t get is how you tell the bride from the bridesmaids if they’re all wearin’ white! Seems like a recipe for disaster, if ya ask me. Maybe the bride’s dress is just a bit fancier, with more sparkles or somethin’. Or maybe they got different flowers. I dunno. These youngsters and their fancy ways!
- Then there’s the problem of keepin’ that white dress clean. Lord have mercy! Try eatin’ spaghetti in a white dress, I dare ya. You’ll end up lookin’ like a Jackson Pollock painting gone wrong. And don’t even get me started on red wine. That stuff stains like nothin’ else.
I was lookin’ online the other day, tryin’ to see what all the fuss is about. Saw some dresses they called “Montreal Dress” and “crepe number” somethin’ somethin’. Sounded all highfalutin to me. But they was pretty, I gotta admit. Long and flowy, with that halter thing around the neck. Showed off the shoulders real nice.
But where do you even buy these things? Back in my day, you went to the store, tried it on, and that was that. Now they got these internet things. I heard tell of a place called “Etsy.” Sounds like somethin’ my chickens would do, “Etsy, etsy, etsy,” when they see me comin’ with the feed. But apparently, that’s where all the handmade stuff is. Wedding gifts, too, they say. Handmade wedding presents! Imagine that. Folks ain’t got time for that no more. We just go to Walmart.
Anyway, back to the dresses. If you’re gonna have your girls wear white, I guess you gotta make sure it’s the right white. Not too bright, not too dull. And the style matters too. You don’t want your bridesmaids lookin’ like they showed up in their nightgowns, do ya? You want somethin’ that’s classy, somethin’ that makes ’em feel good. Cause if they ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy, you know how that goes.
And don’t forget the shoes! You can’t have a fancy white dress and then wear some beat-up old sneakers. That just ain’t right. Gotta get some nice shoes, maybe some little heels, or some pretty sandals if it’s a summer weddin’. And the hair, too! Gotta get that hair did up all nice. Maybe some curls, or a fancy braid. It all adds up, ya see?
So, to make a long story short, I ain’t quite sure how I feel about bridesmaids in white. It’s different, that’s for sure. But if it’s done right, it can look real nice. Just gotta make sure the bride still stands out, ya know? That’s the most important thing. It’s her day, after all. Let her shine. And for goodness sake, keep a stain stick handy! You never know when a meatball is gonna go rogue.
And one last thing, don’t go spendin’ a fortune on these dresses. Affordable bridesmaid dresses are just as good. They wear it once, maybe twice, and then it hangs in the closet. Save your money for the honeymoon, that’s what I say. Go somewhere nice, like them beaches with the blue water. That’s what I’d do, if I was young again and gettin’ hitched.
