Well, howdy folks! Gather ’round, gather ’round. Today, we’re here for somethin’ special, somethin’ real special. My boy, yeah, my own flesh and blood, he’s gettin’ hitched! Never thought I’d see the day, but here we are. And me, well, they asked me to say a few words. So, I figured, why not? Can’t be harder than wranglin’ chickens, right? Heh heh.
First off, I gotta say, lookin’ at my boy up there, standin’ all tall and handsome… well, it makes an old woman’s heart swell. Remember when he was just a little tyke, runnin’ around with a snotty nose and dirt on his knees? Always chasin’ after frogs and gettin’ into mischief. Time sure does fly, doesn’t it? One minute they’re learnin’ to tie their shoes, the next they’re sayin’ “I do.”
And this girl, this lovely young lady he’s marrying… she’s somethin’ else. When he first brought her home, I was a little… well, let’s just say I wasn’t sure. But she’s got a good heart, that one. I can see it in her eyes. She treats my boy right, and that’s all that matters to an old mama like me. She’s kind, she’s smart, and she can make a mean apple pie, which is a big plus in my book! Welcome to the family, darlin’. You’re one of us now.
- I remember this one time, my boy, he was about ten years old. He tried to build a treehouse all by himself. Ended up with a pile of wood and a scraped knee. But he didn’t give up, no sir. He went right back at it, and eventually, he had the finest treehouse in the whole county. That’s the kind of man he is – determined, hardworking, and always willing to learn. And I see that same fire in his bride’s eyes too. They’re gonna do great things together, I just know it.
- And speakin’ of learnin’, marriage ain’t always easy. It’s like a garden, you gotta tend to it every day. There’ll be good times, and there’ll be tough times. But as long as you stick together, and remember to laugh, you’ll make it through anything. Don’t be afraid to argue, don’t be afraid to apologize, and always, always, remember to say “I love you.”
My boy, he’s always been a good son. Respectful, kind, and always willing to lend a hand. He’s made me proud in so many ways, and I know he’ll continue to make me proud as a husband. He’s found a good woman, a strong woman, and I couldn’t be happier for him. They say when you marry someone, you don’t just marry them, you marry their whole family. Well, I’m darn proud to be gainin’ a daughter today.
Now, I ain’t one for fancy speeches. I’m just a simple woman, speakin’ from the heart. But I want you both to know how much I love you. I’m so happy to see you startin’ this new chapter in your lives, and I’ll be here for you every step of the way. So, let’s raise a glass, not just to my son and his beautiful bride, but to love, to family, and to a lifetime of happiness. Cheers, y’all!
Marriage is a journey, a long and winding road. There will be bumps in the road, sure, but there will also be beautiful sunsets and breathtaking views. The important thing is to enjoy the ride together, to support each other through thick and thin, and to never forget the love that brought you together in the first place. And remember, a little bit of forgiveness goes a long way, ain’t nobody perfect and that’s the God’s truth. So here’s to a long, happy, and healthy marriage!
So go on, you two. Go out there and make a life for yourselves. A good life. A life filled with love, laughter, and maybe a few more grandkids for this old woman to spoil. Heh heh. God bless you both.
