Well, well, here we are on this big day, and I’ve got somethin’ to say ’bout my boy. You know, the one standin’ up there lookin’ all dapper, in that fancy suit. It don’t seem like it was that long ago, when he was just a little feller, runnin’ ’round in the yard, makin’ a mess, and gettin’ into trouble like all boys do. But now look at him, all grown up, and married, no less! Time sure does fly when you ain’t lookin’.
I still remember when he was just a babe in my arms. I’d look down at him and think, “What kinda man is this boy gonna turn into?” Well, let me tell ya, he’s grown up to be a fine one. He’s got the kind heart, and a strong head on his shoulders. I raised him right, but I reckon the rest of the world had a hand in helpin’ him along too. Ain’t just me, it’s everybody that’s helped shape him into the man he is today.
And then, here comes [Bride’s name]. Now, I don’t know her as long as I know my own son, but I’ll tell ya, the moment I met her, I knew she was somethin’ special. A good woman, a kind woman, and she’s got a way about her that makes you feel like you’ve known her forever. What a blessing she is to our family! I can see the love in their eyes when they look at each other. Ain’t nothin’ more beautiful than two folks that really love one another, is there?
I want to say thank you to [Bride’s name] for lovin’ my son the way she does. She makes him smile like I ain’t seen him smile before. And when he smiles, I know everything’s right in the world. She’s the perfect partner for him, and I couldn’t be happier for the two of them. I’m just so proud of my boy, and I’m so happy to welcome [Bride’s name] into our family. We are all family now, and that’s somethin’ I hold dear in my heart.
Now, I ain’t one for long speeches, so I’ll keep it short and sweet. I just want to say, from the bottom of my heart, I wish you two all the happiness in the world. Marriage ain’t always easy, but when you’ve got love, and patience, and a little bit of humor, you’ll get through anything. You two have that, and more. I’m so proud of both of you, and I can’t wait to see all the good things life has in store for ya’ll. Here’s to a long, happy life together, filled with love, laughter, and good times!
