Okay, here’s my story about being a bridesmaid three times.
So, I just got back from the third wedding where I was a bridesmaid. Three times! Can you believe it? It got me thinking about that old saying, “always a bridesmaid, never a bride.” I’m not superstitious, but I gotta admit, it’s a funny coincidence, and the saying is from an old Listerine mouthwash, which is kind of hilarious if you think about it.
The first time, it was my older sister’s wedding. I was super excited. I helped her pick out the venue, went to all the dress fittings, and even planned the bachelorette party. It was a blast. I caught the bouquet at that one, which was funny because I was, like, fifteen.
The second time, it was for my college roommate. That wedding was a bit more… chaotic. We had to deal with a last-minute change of caterer, and the groom’s side of the family was a bit, shall we say, “dramatic.” But we pulled it off. We were running around like crazy, making sure everything was perfect, and let me tell you, I earned that bridesmaid title.
And now, this third one. This time, it was for my cousin. This wedding was out of town, so I flew in a few days early. I helped with setting up the decorations, which was, by the way, the most adorable, simple arrangement of wildflowers you can imagine. Then rehearsed for the ceremony. The wedding itself was beautiful, a small gathering by the lake. And I caught the bouquet again. I mean, is this a record or something? I was standing right next to the bride, so it was almost unavoidable. Still, it was a fun moment. Maybe I should play the lottery or something.
Being a bridesmaid is a lot of work, but it’s also an honor. You get to be there for your friend or family member on one of the biggest days of their lives. You get to help them, support them, and celebrate with them. And that’s pretty special, even if you’re always a bridesmaid, never a bride.
- Be prepared to help. A lot. With everything.
- Stay organized. There’s a lot going on, so keep track of things.
- Be flexible. Things will go wrong. Just roll with it.
- Have fun! It’s a celebration, after all.
- Catch that bouquet!
So here’s what I learned from being a three-time bridesmaid:
Who knows, maybe the fourth time’s the charm, and I’ll finally be the bride. Or maybe not. Either way, I’m happy to be there for my loved ones, and honestly, the bridesmaid dresses are pretty cute, right?
